Once upon a time in my first year of high school, my friend, Vanessa, introduced me to the show The Vampire Diaries. Long story short, my life has not been the same since.

Back home, we did not have the CW channel. I could only watch it online. I always wanted to be up to date and I refused to be behind on episodes. Here are top 5 reasons why you should most definitely watch The Vampire Diaries:

1. It draws you in.

I probably watched Seasons 1 through 4 about fifty times... or more.

I remember back in high school, people would give me flash drives so that I would transfer and share my episodes with them. I would then go back home with multiple flash drives in my backpack.

When I first made Instagram, I chose @racheldiariesx3 as my username. I have not changed it since. Eventually, it became my personal Twitter and Snapchat usernames. My friends would even call me "racheldiaries" at times.

2. Ian Somerhalder A.K.A. Damon Salvatore

He is like an angel sent from heaven.

Looking back, my obsession seemed to reach its maximum level. I changed my last name in Facebook from Ramirez to Salvatore (specifically Damon Salvatore) or Gilbert (for Elena Gilbert). I even changed my cover photo to collages of Damon and Elena (I'm obviously a Delena fan). My email in high school was rachramireztvd@....com. I also made a blog dedicated only to the show.

Not only was I up to date with the shows, but the actors and actresses' celebrity lives as well. For instance, I knew that Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) were lovers in real life, while Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) and Torrey DeVitto (Meredith Fell) were married. I was also one of the first people, I think, to find out that Ian and Nina broke up.

And because I strongly rooted for their relationship, I was devastated when I found out that Ian Somerhalder married Nikki Reed, also known as Rosalie from the movie Twilight.

3. The suspense, drama, and creativity.

Note: I really hate 'Twilight'. When people ask why, I ask "Do you really believe vampires sparkle under the sun? Not that they're real, but it seems more believable to think that vampires burn under the sun." Also, the characters are hotter.

Everything is filled with suspense. Executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson are amazing. The story line just gets to your bones and has you jumping, screaming, crying and all sorts of emotions.

4. You meet the Original vampires.

The Original vampires appear in Season 2. Although they were initially perceived to be the bad people, they had their own individual intentions. Eventually, they were so popular that CW TV created a spin-off series called The Originals.

5. Nina Dobrev A.K.A. Elena Gilbert, or Katerina Petrova

Nina Dobrev is an exceptional actress. She not only played the main character, Elena Gilbert, but also the antagonist doppelgänger, Katherine Pierce or Katerina Petrova.

With that aside, I stopped watching The Vampire Diaries ever since Nina Dobrev decided not to continue with the show. Since then, I've only been watching the spin-off series, The Originals.

On January 25, she posted her script on Instagram. I thought it was a throwback, but no...

Elena Gilbert is coming back for the season finale, everybody!

Well, now I have to catch up on the episodes I missed. Thanks, Nina. I'm extremely excited to watch the season finale and the others I have yet to watch!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
