Top 5 Reasons To Go On A Road Trip

There are a handful of experiences in life that we look back on and smile, just thinking about how fun it was. There is no better time than the summer when the weather is mostly sunny and the mood is light, to go on a road trip with either your friends or family. Sure, flying on a plane or taking a train can be quicker and more convenient, but road tripping is something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime, and here's why.

1. The bonding.

Being stuck in a car with five or six (give or take) people is a great way to bond with one another. In fact, it is almost inevitable to not talk to each other for the duration of the car ride, especially if it is a long trip. Don't like hanging out with your little brother? Perfect, because a nice long car ride will be the best thing for you two. It's the ideal time to tell stories, make up jokes, and play made up games.

2. The music.

Before you go on your road trip, picking out the music ahead of time is a must. Grab your favorite CDs or make a playlist with your favorite songs and the time will fly by. Nothing is better than singing and rocking out to your favorites tunes with everyone else in the car. It's perfect for keeping everyone in the car entertained; even the driver can enjoy the drive if the music is good.

3. The napping.

For those who get car sick easily, including me, don't worry because napping in the car is the best. The soft hum of the engine and easy going lull of the car driving on the pavement can put you to sleep right away. In fact, as cheesy as it sounds, some of my best naps have been in the car. Ever wonder why a parent will sometimes take a fussy baby around the neighborhood for a drive? The motion of the moving car puts us to sleep, and waking up feeling rested is great.

4. The views.

If you're on a road trip across more than just a couple of states, you're bound to see some pretty incredible sites on the way. I've seen some pretty breathtaking views just from my car window alone, especially in the mountains and near large bodies of water. Sometimes you can't see these views from anywhere else besides the car since you can't get out and walk around on the road. So take advantage of them while you can.

5. The memories.

You may think you can still make great memories by taking a plane or train to your destination, and you're right. But between a combination of the reasons why road tripping is the best from above, you can see why the memories you make traveling by car are the best. So next time you have the chance, take it. And remember, take lots of pictures to capture those memories.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
