When a new year comes, new music is bound to happen. You make a new playlist, there are new top hits and, most of all, new artists emerge from the unknown. Here is a list of the top 30 tracks of 2017 in alphabetical order.

Disclaimer: This article is NOT mentioning songs based on most listens, plays on the radios or downloads. These are my personal picks of tops songs.

1. 1-800-273-8255 - Logic

1-800-273-8255 was created to promote awareness for suicidal thoughts/ actions, the name of the song is a help hotline phone number.

2. 24K Magic - Bruno Mars

Such an upbeat song! It is fun to gather a few friends, get in pajamas and dance around to.

3. All Time Low - Jon Bellion

An upbeat song about a dark time in a person’s life. Although the actual meaning of this song is rather sad, it is still upbeat and overall fun to dance around to.

4. Attention - Charlie Puth

Attention is all about an ex who is trying to get back into the pants of the singer for a one night stand.

5. Believer - Imagine Dragons

Turn up the bass and volume in your car and listen to this one, you will be thanking me later.

6. Body Like A Back Road - Sam Hunt

I am not a huge fan of country but, you will always hear me singing along

7. Bounce Back - Big Sean

I WOKE UP IN BEAASSST MODE! Such a good song to get ready to in the morning

8. Despacito Remix - Luis Fonsi ft. Justin Bieber

Useful if you want to go into Spanish 101 feeling as if you know some Spanish.

9. Don’t Wanna Know - Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar

Radio stations skip Kendricks part… Listen to this version, it is much better.

10. Glorious - Macklemore ft. Skylar Grey

This song defined my summer, great to roll down windows, turn up loud and drive to work to.

11. Havana - Camila Cabello

In general, such a jam. I do not know all the words, but let me tell you, the chorus gets me excited.

12. Him and I - G-Eazy ft. Halsey

This is off of G-Eazy’s new album that is so so good. This is just my personal favorite off of it.

13. Humble - Kendrick Lamar

Such a good pump up song. This is played before a hockey game at my school, you will always hear me screaming ‘MY LEFT STROKE JUST WENT VIRAL!”

14. I Don’t Wanna Live Forever - Taylor Swift ft. Zayn Malik

Overplayed on the radio, but good as apart of the Fifty Shades Darker Soundtrack.

15. I’m the One - DJ Khaled and Justin Bieber

This was another one of the songs of the summer that was highly overplayed but still a good one.

16. iSpy - KYLE ft. Lil Yachty

Highly involving social media in a relationship, good beat overall a good time.

17. New Rules - Dua Lipa

The advice we all should take in 2018.

18. Perfect - Ed Sheeran

This is such a cute song, you can have my heart, Ed.

19. September Song - JP Cooper

I used to be obsessed with this song at the beginning of 2017. It is about remisquing on young relationship, it is adorable with a capital A.

20. Shape of You - Ed Sheeran

This song will never get old.

21. Slow Hands - Niall Horan

The one song that I actually enjoyed after it was overplayed on the radio.

22. Something Just Like This - Coldplay and The Chainsmokers

Overplayed, but a powerful duo.

23. Sorry Not Sorry - Demi Lovato

Demi, you just blessed us all, thank you, from all of us.

24. Swalla - Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj, and Ty Dolla Sign

The ultimate jam, best song of the year to dance to or drive to.

25. That’s What I Like - Bruno Mars

I am sure you have heard this one, we both love it.

26. Thunder - Imagine Dragons

Off of my favorite album, pumps up to the maximum amount.

27. Whatever it Takes - Imagine Dragons

Read above.

28. What Lovers Do - Maroon 5 ft. SZA

I really did not like this song at first, then I listened to it a few more times, now I love it.

29. Your Song - Rita Ora

About how there needs to be more positive love songs. Positive encouraging message.

30. Young Dumb & Broke - Khalid

It says young dumb broke high school kids but I am pretty sure they mean college kids.

As a Bonus, here are my 5 favorite albums of 2017 (also in alphabetical order, they are all jams)

1. 24K Magic - Bruno Mars

A fun album to dance around to, everyone needs some Bruno in their life.

2. Beautiful and Damned - G-Eazy

I am not a giant fan of rap, but the songs on this album includes the perfect amount of chorus and rap.

3. Evolve - Imagine Dragons

My favorite album of the year. Perfect for turning the bass up in your car and blasting, upbeat and relatable.

4. Fifty Shades Darker Movie Soundtrack - Various Artists

Typically, movie soundtracks are boring, they are typically just instrumentals, but this album is way more than that. It includes many popular artists of the year (ex: Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj, Zayn, Taylor Swift etc) that create the perfect romantic soundtrack.

5. Gemini - Macklemore

Once again, I am not a huge fan of rap. This album like G-Eazy’s includes the perfect amount of chorus and rap, although in general I have always liked Macklemore’s work.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
