Everybody knows “The Fray”. Whether you realize that you know them or not, you KNOW “The Fray”. With popular singles such as “Over My Head (Cable Car),” “How To Save A Life” and “You Found Me” it is impossible to have never heard of them. With that being said, I have noticed that a lot of emotion-filled and beautiful songs by them do not get as much recognition as they should. Because of this, I have created a list of the most underrated songs from each “The Fray” album.
“How To Save A Life” (2005)
“The Fray’s” debut album, and probably the most popular to date. It is hard to choose which songs are the most underrated because this album is given a lot of credit (as it should be). Each of these songs tackles a person’s past and how difficult it can be to overcome it to be able to get to the future.
“Fall Away”
“You left something undone, it’s now your rerun/It’s the one you can’t erase/You should have made it right, so you wouldn’t have to fight/To put a smile back on your face.”
“Heaven Forbid”
“Hold on tight, wait for tomorrow, you’ll be alright.”
The first song where guitarist, Joe King, shows everyone what he is made of, vocally.
“Little House”
“A part of you that’ll never show/You’re the only one that’ll ever know.”
“The Fray” (2009)
“The Fray’s” most image-filled album. They are constantly telling stories about life, the past, the present, and the future with the songs on the album. “The Fray” does such an amazing job painting a picture through the lyrics they sing on this album, and they deserve recognition for it.
“Absolute”
“Quiet but I’m sure there is something here/Tell me everything cause I want to hear.”
“Say When”
“Some of this was here before us/All of this will go after us.”
“Happiness”
“Happiness feels a lot like sorrow/Let it be, you can’t make it come or go.”
“Enough for Now”
“Breathing comes in pairs/Except for twice/One begins and one’s goodbye.”
“Scars & Stories” (2012)
This album in its entirety is underrated. I am convinced that this is the best album “The Fray” has released and it does not get as much recognition as it should. Just do yourself a favor and listen to this album, and especially these specific songs.
“The Fighter”
“Loneliness has always been with me, with me/Maybe we were meant to be on our own.”
“Run for Your Life”
“I’ll come back with you and take all that’s true/Leave all that’s burned behind.”
“The Wind”
“I don’t know where I am/Can you tell me, will I break or will I bend?”
“1961”
“We’re broken, we’re battered/We’re torn up and we’re shattered.”
“Munich”
“There you go/You paralyze me/And I don’t know why.”
“Rainy Zurich”
“She’s in a town that holds a lonely road/And the night is falling/There’s a road that follows to a home/And the sky s heavy/In the home she’s in a lonely room/With music playing/Can she hear my heart coming through/On the door between?”
Another song where Joe King sings lead and kills it!!! The most beautiful and underrated The Fray song, ever.
“Helios” (2014)
“Helios” is a very upbeat album for “The Fray”. They play with their sound a little more than they have in the past and show their ability to play more upbeat songs, while also keeping their signature calming and melodious sound.
“Hold My Hand”
“Escape is in my blood/Fear is in my bones/But I don’t wanna walk that road/Please, help me?”
“Give It Away”
“Baby just do your thing.”
“Wherever This Goes”
“Baby, you are the song that’s written on my heart.”
“Shadow and a Dancer”
“Hello friend/Do you remember when/We would float on the summer wind/And fall back to earth again.”
“Same as You”
“All those days and nights you planned your future/Thought the river could never meet your home/Oh, how swiftly it comes.”
“Through the Years: The Best of The Fray” (2016)
An album with the sole purpose to display “The Fray’s” most popular songs. Although this was meant to display their past songs, they debuted a few new songs, two of which being two of the best songs they have ever released.
“Singing Low”
“We can lay together/We’re closer than we’ve ever been/Stay right here forever/And break each other off again.”
“Corners”
“Real close and personal/It’s a different point of view/Every turn is critical/Walking on the edge of you.”
