I consider myself an expert on all things Christmas. I start getting in the mood around October 25, blasting music fully by November 1. And you better believe my tree is up and decorated the day after Thanksgiving. I have multiple Christmas playlists on Spotify, but here are my top 20 songs that always make the cut.
20. "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill/Cindy Lou Who
The most innocent song about trying to find the real meaning behind all the Christmas chaos. Cindy Lou Who taught us to be a little less selfish and a little more loving to grumpy, green, hairy monsters.
19. "White Christmas" by The Drifters
Let your inner "Home Alone" fly with this classic tune. Those harmonies and that high-pitched "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" are sure to give you some Christmas cheer.
18. "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee
A classic that makes all the guests at your Ugly Christmas Sweater party "get a sentimental feeling" when they hear it.
17. "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by She and Him
I love this version because the roles are switched so it's a little less aggressive and a lot less creepy. For once, the girl is trying to get the boy to stay over and "chill." Of course, the "Elf" version is also the best.
16. "My Only Wish (This Year)" by Britney Spears
A desperate cry for a boyfriend but such a classic.
15. "Little Saint Nick" by The Beach Boys
This song has a chill vibe that puts you in the Christmas spirit. It's also a great motivator for when you are running around buying Christmas presents. Run, run reindeer!
14. "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"
For every month except December, I really identify with the Grinch—aside from having termites in my teeth and spiders in my brain.
13. "Carol of the Bells" by John Williams (or Trans-Siberian Orchestra if you feel like turning up)
This song is just straight up gorgeous. You always attempt to sing alone. And I know you've tried to hit those high notes and totally did not nail it.
12. "O Holy Night" by *NSYNC
They sing the whole song a capella, once again proving that we will never have another boy band as perfect as the gods that make up *NSYNC.
11. "Jingle Bells" by Andrea Bocelli ft. The Muppets
I usually don't like "Jingle Bells," but this song is oddly endearing. With Andrea's perfect pitch and the Muppets providing silly backups, it works.
10. "Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt
Because we've all been "angels all year."
9. "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)" by Mariah Carey
The queen once again graces us with a classic. She's got me missing a boyfriend I never even had.
8. "Last Christmas" by Wham! (or Taylor Swift depending on your mood)
The way George Michael hits that "special" makes me feel all tingly inside.
7. "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby
The original Christmas crooner. He can melt any cold heart and make everyone appreciate snow with this song.
6. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" by Frank Sinatra
A perfect reminder to keep calm and carry on because it's Christmas!
5. "Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby Helms
Duh.
4. "Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber
Who doesn't want to see Justin standing under the mistletoe waiting for them?
3. "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole
This song could play in the dead of summer, and I would still listen to it. It is that good.
2. Everything and anything by Michael Bublé
"When in doubt, Bublé it out"
1. "All I Want For Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey
When this song comes on, you stop what you are doing and start belting. And as if the first one wasn't perfect enough, she goes and makes an extra festive version!
