Top 15 Most Heart-Wrenching Christmas Songs

There are many great Christmas songs out there. Some upbeat, some sincere love songs, some comical children's songs. There are even some sad songs, which have the ability to bring the listener to tears. I know I have cried, so I decided to write this article about the top 25 heart-wrenching songs. So here they are!

1. The Christmas Shoes by NewSong

This song is definitely without a doubt one of the saddest Christmas songs I have heard. It might be the saddest song in general. But it also has a element of heartfelt sincerity from the child in the song. This song is about a little boy who is trying to buy shoes for his mother who is in the hospital with cancer and might not be able to live much longer.

2. Where are You Christmas from "The Grinch"

This song comes directly from a child's heart. It makes me so sad that a child doesn't feel like christmas is upon her. This song is about Cindy Lou Who and how she doesn't feel the way she used to about Christmas.

3. My Grown-up Christmas List by Michael Bublé

This song isn't actually that sad but everytime I hear it, I feel sad because he is no longer a boy asking Santa for toys but a man asking to heal the nations ills.

4. Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon

This song refers to the Christmas after the Vietnam war. It mentions the fear that there will be another war.

5. Believe from "The Polar Express"

This song isn't actually that sad but everytime I hear it, I cry listening it. It is about how everyone must grow up but you can still believe in Santa.

6. When Christmas Comes Around from "The Polar Express"

This song tugs at my heartstrings because it is about a boy who has never had Christmas before because his family is poor. Santa has never visited his house before.

7. Last Christmas by Wham!

This song is about giving away your heart to someone who doesn't actually love you so they just give it away and hurt you in the process.

8. Blue Christmas from "The Year Without a Santa Claus"

This song makes me tear up every time. In the video there is a girl who cries as she writes a letter to Santa about how he won't be coming this year. We see both her and Santa cry.

9. Why Am I Such A Misfit from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"

This song shows Rudolph after he has been excluded by the other reindeer his age because of his nose.

10. The Island of Misfit Toys from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"

This song is sad because we see toys that are different than "normal toys" that just want to be played with but they are stuck on an island for misfit toys.

11. I Believe in Santa Claus from "The Year Without a Santa Claus"

This song talks about how as you grow up you cease to believe in Santa Claus but you also lose all that makes life fun.

12. Christmases When You Were Mine by Taylor Swift

In this song Taylor Swift talks about the heartbreaking absence of a love on Christmas day. She also talks about how even the rest of her family misses him.

13. Coventry Carol by Pentatonix

In this song is about how King Herod had his men slay all of the children in the town because he was worried about losing his power to Jesus.

14. I'll Be Home For Christmas by Bing Crosby

This song is from the point of view of a soldier who thinks that he will be able to be home for Christmas but he can't be sure and it might only happen in his dreams.

15. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland

Although this song is meant to cheer up Toottie in "Meet Me in Saint Louis," this song has a sour side. although Judy garland is wishing you a happy christmas she also mentions that all is not well. "Until then we will have to muddle through somehow".

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
