It's the first week of winter break and we made it through finals! Now that we are home for a longer break, it's time to relax and enjoy all things Christmas! So in this article, I will give suggestions of some of the best things during winter break!

1. Christmas On Sunset

Sadly, as this article is being posted, this event has already passed, but this event happens each year in Asheboro, NC. It is held in the downtown area of Asheboro on Main Street, and it includes high school concert bands and choirs performing carols. It also includes performances in the theater of "A Christmas Carol" and the Salvation army band. Also, there is a tree lighting ceremony and much more. Overall, this event is a great way to start off the Holiday season.

2. Fox 8 Holiday Concerts

This event is put on every year by Fox 8 WGHP, a local news station in the Triad, partnering with Old Dominian and Salvation Army. This concert is put on at the Greensboro Coliseum, primarily on December 16th and then on Winston-Salem on the 17th. Both concerts are unique from the other content-wise, as the one in Greensboro highlights the Greensboro symphony and local Ice Skaters, while the one in Winston-Salem highlights the Winston-Salem symphony and gymnastics teams. So, not only is the entertainment amazing, but also it is a large service to the Triad as the only cost for admissions is bringing in canned food or non-perishable food. I have been going to this concert almost every single year since I was in middle school and I have enjoyed it more and more each year.

3. Christmas Lights are always amazing!

Almost everyone has that one house that they live near that has the yard and house covered with lights, possibly similar to the Griswold's house. Well, confession time: my house and yard has a lot of lights everywhere. Surprisingly, though, in my area, there are a lot of these houses that are completely decked out. They are pretty to look at -- let's be honest, you can never have too many Christmas lights!

4. Sleep, and sleep some more!

After a long semester, it's time to catch up on some sleep, and sometimes that means sleeping all day.

5. The High Point University Community Christmas.

This is the first time that my family will be going to this, but from all of the photos I have seen of this event, it looks pretty amazing! High Point University every year puts on a free event for the surrounding community that is made up of different Christmas events. Some of these events include a live nativity, orchestra and chorus performances and much more. Overall this event is one that is going to be pretty great! The last chance to go to this event is the 15th.

6. Watch all of the Christmas movies!

As it is getting very close to Christmas, it is time to watch all of the movies that are Christmas themed! One of my personal favorites has to either be "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" or "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

7. Speedway Christmas

Speedway Christmas is an event I have heard about but I have yet to get to go, but from the pictures I have seen it is pretty amazing. It has 3 million lights all around the drive through Christmas lights on the 3.75 mile track that is open all the way through the 30th of December. They are also showing different Christmas movies throughout the month of December, and overall this event seems pretty amazing if you have the time to go!

8. Watch the new Season of "Fuller House"!

"Fuller House" is absolutely amazing and I was so excited when it came out on Netflix just in time for winter break! Currently, I am about halfway through the new season and it is all that we would expect and so much more! This is one show that I hope will continue on for a while!

9. Christmas shopping!

Honestly, I absolutely love this part of Christmas, even if I don't end up getting anything! Since I have been able to buy gifts these past two years I have really enjoyed it!

10. No School work!

At least for one month there are no projects or papers, which is amazing, especially after a hard semester of college!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
