If you're anything like me, it's hard to find tv shows that resonate with you these days in the sense of keeping your Christian values. So instead of sitting there with your mac n' cheese cooling off while you try to find a show that caters to your liking, allow me to save you the time and research. Here's 10 shows I think most college Christians would enjoy!
These shows are good in *my opinion* Please share more!
Drama
This Is Us - The writers for this show are phenomenal - they know how to pull on every heart string! This is a family-friendly show that highlights real-world issues and creates a beautifully intricate plot line that always keeps you on your toes.
Merlin - Yes, this show is about the legend of Camelot and King Arthur and Merlin and all the stories so magic is going to be involved. I will reiterate that it is make-believe... This show has one of the best enemies turned bro-mances I have ever seen and the main characters are funny without even trying to be. If you like fairytale vibes then I encourage this one!
Greenhouse Academy - The drama. The love triangles. The betrayal. The insanely attractive cast. Mix it all together and you have a binge-worthy show that focuses on the 'most intelligent' students of their time and the prestigious school they attend.
Comedy
Psych - Shawn Spencer is the embodiment of a kid-dult. Will it take him all 8 seasons to mature? Despite his childlike tendencies, his hilarious banter with his best friend and with his father and allllll of the antics that he gets into will leave you laughing 'til your sides hurt - all while they're trying to solve a murder case.
Action
Chuck - This show is full of twists & turns and you will want to binge-watch it all in one night. But that's similar to what Chuck did to get the Intersect into his brain, so for health purposes, I wouldn't recommend it. This show will definitely make you wonder about what secrets the government might be hiding, but also will make you laugh at the chaotic atmosphere of working at tech retail store.
Turner & Hooch - I'll admit, I haven't seen the original Turner & Hooch, but the one with Josh Peck (Turner Jr.) is action-packed, with bad guys at every turn. Yet, it also shows the journey of a man trying to figure out this whole dog-training thing (which doesn't always go according to plan). Also, there may or may not be a love triangle... but who doesn't love Josh Peck?
Intended for a younger audience but who cares, they're so good
Julie & The Phantoms - This show has quickly become my comfort show. The plot is so original, the characters are all relatable and funny in their own ways, and every song they produce is such a BOP. I'm not even kidding when I say their album has been my most listened to on my Spotify wrapped for the past 2 years.
There are 2 disclaimers I want to put out there: This show is about a ghost band, but rest assured, there is nothing demonic about this show. Second, a gay character is prominent in this show, however, no PDA occurs in this show whatsoever.
Good Luck Charlie - If you grew up watching Disney Channel, you more than likely watched this show. And while Disney Channel was at it's peak with other shows at the time, this one is definitely one you can watch with your whole family. When you go back and re-watch it as an adult, you'll notice there were a lot of jokes you probably missed as a kid. The chaotic energy of having 5 kids running around the house at all different stages of life makes this show so incredibly funny but at the same time, many life lessons are learned. I find this show to be very wholesome.
Alexa & Katie - The show highlights 2 teenage girls as they go through high school, and one might think that sounds pretty boring. But one of the girls actually has cancer. And the other girl (her best friend) sticks by her side through thick and thin. I highly recommend watching this with your bestie and making sure you have a tissue box nearby.
Phineas & Ferb - This show had no creative limit. I truly think they only ended the show because of legalities or something of the sorts. I know the writers had to have an abundance of ideas up their sleeves. This is an example of one of those comfort shows that you might play in the background while you're folding laundry, and that's all fine and dandy. But if you do sit and intently watch/listen, you'll definitely catch some jokes that probably went over your head when you originally watched this show.
