It's Summer B, which means Netlix. Lots of Netflix. So naturally, I've spent many nights binge watching episodes of Grey's Anatomy that I already saw in high school. I've decided to do something productive with this so here is a list I've compiled of the top 10 things Meredith Grey (and in some cases Mark Sloan) said in the first 10 seasons.
Thank you Shonda Rhimes for your words of wisdom:
1. "In the dark there may be fear, but there is also hope."
2. "Here's the truth about the truth: it hurts. so we lie."
3. "Desire leaves us heartbroken, it wears us out. Desire can wreck your life. But as tough as wanting something can be, the people who suffer the most are those who don't know what they want."
4. "We convince ourselves its better that we never dream at all. But the strongest of us, the most determined of us we hold onto the dream or we find ourselves faced with a fresh dream we never considered. We awake to find ourselves, against all odds, feeling hopeful. And if we're lucky, we realize in the face of everything, in face of life, the true dream is being able to dream at all."
5. "Change. We don't like it. We fear it, but we can't stop it from coming. We either adapt to change or we get left behind. It hurts to grow. Anybody who tells you it doesn't is lying. But here's the truth. Sometimes the more things change, the more they stay the same. And sometimes change is good. Sometimes change is everything."
6. "We may feel caged. We may feel trapped. But still as humans we can find ways to feel free. We are each other's keepers. We are the guardians of our own humanity. And even though there's a beast inside all of us, what sets us apart from the animals is that we can think, feel, dream, and love. And against all odds, against all instinct we evolve."
7. "It's easier to be alone. Because what if you learn that you need love, and then you don't have it?"
8. "Move on. Because no matter how painful it is, it's the only way we grow."
9. "The things we worry about, so pointless. And we get to take that worry away, It's why we're doctors. It's actually why we're people. But somehow we forget that all that matters is people. And whether we walk away leaving them better or worse for having met us. We control that."
10. "If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you're scared that it's not the right thing. Even if you're scared that it'll cause problems. Even if you're scared that it will burn your life to the ground you say it and you say it loud. And then you go from there."
