10. Psychological Recovery - Sherlock Holmes
This song cycles through almost every emotion possible, as it begins with urgency and meets sorrow in the middle then ends with
9. Katherine - Hidden Figures
This movie is one that requires not only careful
8. Solomon - 12 Years a Slave
Ask anyone, and they'll tell you that 12 Years a Slave is an unforgettable and brutal movie; it doesn't hold back in the message it sends and constantly has the audience on the edge of their seat. Zimmer's composition of Solomon's theme defies this idea as it's beautiful, slow, and melancholy. It's an incredibly simplistic theme, but it holds little secrets within itself that relate back to the movie, such as the orchestra being
7. Like a Dog Chasing Cars - The Dark Knight
The Joker is my favorite villain of all time, and like many Batman fans will say The Dark Knight gives him an amazing representation, both visually and through audio. This track does well to give the chaos of the movie an audio representation and serves as the perfect accompaniment for working out or driving.
6. The Mole - Dunkirk
Dunkirk
5. Is She With You? - Batman v. Superman
One of the few good things that came out of Batman v. Superman (for me at least), was the introduction of not only Wonder Woman herself but her theme as well. Zimmer gives us a theme of power for her, one that has a strong bassline and even more powerful electric cello solo at the helm. This song is perfect for speeding on the highway and making you feel like a boss as you pass cars.
4. Equation - The Little Prince
This movie is one that makes me cry like a baby every time I watch it (it's on Netflix, go look it up). This song is one of those that just resonates with me, as it features a solo vocalist that fits so perfectly with the background orchestra. I honestly don't have a lot of words for this track, so it's just one that you'll have to listen to for yourself.
3. What Shall We Die For? - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
If this track doesn't make you want to stand on top of something and give an inspiring speech, then you're not listening to it loud enough because let's be honest this is a track that deserves to be listened to loudly. It brings back other themes from throughout the movie and gives it life. Let's be honest, we all wanted to be pirates as a kid and this is one way of getting closer to that dream.
2. Rise - The Dark Knight Rises
There's something about this track that gets me every time. Like many of Zimmer's other tracks, this one
1. Time - Inception
This is Zimmer's most listened to track on Spotify and there's a good reason for that. It's intense, and you can feel the tension that rises throughout the song's runtime; even within the first note, you can feel that unyielding tension. The song continues to build on itself and features small crescendos and decrescendos that give it power, especially as different instruments layer their voices into the theme. It continually overall builds, and even when the track returns to a soft volume at the end, the tension never leaves.
