I love music just as much as the next person (if not more), but something that has always captured my attention about music is the lyrics. Maybe it's because I'm a writer, but in my opinion, a song's lyrics has the power to make or break the song. As I listen to music, I look for songs that tell a good story or that pull my heartstrings a bit. For me, it's all about the words, so here are my top 10 favorite song lyrics to date.

1. "Ain't it funny how life changes. You wake up, ain't nothing the same and life changes. You can't stop it; just hop on the train. You never know what's gonna happen. You make your plans, and you hear God laughing."

"Life Changes" - Thomas Rhett

2. "Cause there ain’t no greater distance than the eighteen inches from your head to your heart."

"Eighteen Inches" - Lauren Alaina

3. "It's okay, life is a tough crowd. 32 and still growing up now. Who you are is not what you did. You're still an innocent."

"Innocent" - Taylor Swift

4. "Feeling your heart again, breathing new oxygen. It's a liberty walk, walk!
Free yourself, slam the door! Not a prisoner anymore!"

"Liberty Walk" - Miley Cyrus

5. "I’ll never stop trying. I’ll never stop watching as you leave. I’ll never stop losing my breath every time I see you looking back at me. I’ll never stop holding your hand. I’ll never stop opening your door. I’ll never stop choosing you, babe.
I’ll never get used to you."

"Never Stop" - SafetySuit

6. "A pebble in the water makes a ripple effect. Every action in this world will bear a consequence. If you wait around forever, you will surely drown. I see what's going down."

"Face Down" - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

7. "I'm gonna show him what little girls are made of, gunpowder and lead."

"Gunpowder & Lead" - Miranda Lambert

8. "You made me insecure, told me I wasn't good enough. But who are you to judge when you're a diamond in the rough?"

"Who Says" - Selena Gomez

9. "Darling, don't be afraid. I have loved you for a thousand years."

"A Thousand Years" - Christina Perri

10. "And no matter what dreams you're chasing, never get above your raising. May the simple things be amazing on the journey of your life."

"The Journey of Your Life" - Jake Owen

If I listed all of my favorite song lyrics, I'd never stop writing, but I hope you take the time to listen to these songs. The lyrics truly are beautiful, and I never get bored of them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
