If you don't know what a DCOM is, you probably know what a DCOM is. Disney Channel Original Movies shaped most of our childhoods. This list is the most iconic, best remembered, most loved, and most referenced top ten Disney Channel Original Movies (in no particular order).

Halloweentown (1998)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloweentown_(film)

A spooky classic, it's an undisputed go-to every Halloween. Let's just ignore when they changed actresses for Marnie.

Cadet Kelly (2002)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadet_Kelly

A Hilary Duff classic, I think this movie made all of us want to join the drill team in 2nd grade.

The Even Stevens Movie (2003)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Even_Stevens_Movie

The most dysfunctional family to ever exist takes a fun island adventure, with no shortage of shenanigans. Plus, who doesn't love Shia Lebouf pre-mental breakdown?

The Cheetah Girls (2003)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cheetah_Girls_(film)

The Cheetah Girls made me want to buy a velour tracksuit, strut around New York City, and belt out tunes in the middle of sentences. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way. They showed me what a girl gang should be.

Stuck in the Suburbs (2004)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuck_in_the_Suburbs

Stuck in the Suburbs fulfilled all of my fangirl dreams. I loved living vacariously through Brenda Song and Danielle Panabaker.

Twitches (2005)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitches_(film)

The iconic spell-casting twins made me want to start casting spells on my dog.

Cow Belles (2006)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_Belles

As a native Nebraskan, this show really struck a cord with me. The small town vibe of a dairy factory was more relatable to me than probably any other movie I've ever seen.

High School Musical (2006)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_School_Musical

This one really needs no explanation. A modern classic.

Jump In! (2007)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jump_In!

I have never been more motivated to become really good at jump roping than in the two weeks after I watched this movie for the first time.

Lemonade Mouth (2011)

Arguably the only good thing to come out of Disney Channel post 2010.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
