To the school that has my heart

I'm sure if you know me, you have most likely heard me talk about this school more times than one, probably more times than you want me to. Just so many things about it, make me extremely excited for the next three years.

Lee University is a small liberal arts college of a little over 6,000 students located in Cleveland, Tennessee.

When I first visited this school, I went into it thinking this was going to be my back up school. Oh boy, was I wrong.

When I stepped foot onto the campus, I became in awe of its beauty and how welcoming the people were. It was not too big, but then also not too small. Walking around campus, there was just something about this school that just put my mind at ease. It was definitely an experience I didn't get at the other school.

Lee University is a school well known for their music program. I grew up basically surrounded by music all my life whether it was in choirs or praise bands, so the program they had definitely swayed me a lot.

When we got there, we had about 15 minutes before we were going into the opening session. Once we went into the session, we were welcomed by multiple people. It made me feel at home.

During the Frontline session, they had talked about second chances, which to me was definitely important when looking at schools. With transferring around a lot in high school, it was kinda difficult when applying to colleges.

They then showcased us to the many different things that the school had to offer from the Voices of Lee to Kingdom Players. These groups did a little more than just amaze me.

This school had everything and more that I was looking for.

Something about it, just spoke to me. It definitely surpassed my expectations. I was sold.

After that frontline, I just knew that Lee was the place for me.

Of course because of expenses, I knew I would have to go to a community college in my town for a year to save up some money but also improve my grades a little.

Because I wasn't going in right away as a freshman and going in as a transfer, I decided to join the freshman group on facebook to just get to know some of the people who were basically going through kind of the same thing I was going to be going through.

Through that facebook group, I have talked to and met so many people that don't think I would've met for a long time if it wasn't for that group. I have honestly made so many friendships already that has put my mind at ease going in.

I'm excited for these next three years and where they are gonna take me.

Lee U, you already mean the world to me and I haven't even started yet.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
