To the person who feels like a failure,
The other day when I was sitting in class and I received that not-so-great grade on my psych exam, I started to wonder what else I had “failed” at doing that week.
But the thing was, I didn’t fail. We as humans look back at everything that goes wrong as a failure and oftentimes let those things bring us down. Instead, we should be looking at those not-so-great life lessons as a new opportunity.
So maybe you didn’t get into the college you wanted, received a bad grade on a paper you spent hours on or didn’t get that job when you thought you nailed the interview. Life goes on. Think of these things as little stepping stones helping you to get to the ultimate destination. Your second choice college may end up being a far better choice than your first, use the feedback from your paper to write a rockin’ one the next time, and think of that job interview as practice for your next one!
The important thing is that you don’t give up, because once you get wherever it is you are supposed to be going, the view is going to be amazing and you will be glad you didn’t turn back!
Instead of thinking of all the negative things that have been happening lately, think of things that you have accomplished, even if it just putting on a pair of pants or finishing that book that you have been reading for a while. Sometimes the littlest things can make even the biggest problem seem small. Everyone has bad days, but that doesn't mean we need to let them control us. Just keep re-writing that next chapter in your novel, because even the best authors don't get it right the first time.
