To the People Who Believe They Need to Fix Everything,

You know who you are, and you can probably name five people just like you. You can't help it, you simply cannot let things go. Let's be honest, it really sucks to be the person determined to help fix everyone and everything. In fact, it blows. Your friends are fighting, so you run straight to the middle of it. You try to fix your significant other and you try to fix your relationships. You try to resolve all of your family's issues. Your friend is struggling with mental illness, you bend over backwards to help them. You're always the person helping the random drunk girl who's crying in the bathroom. You break a glass jar, you sit there for hours trying to glue it together. Then you end up crying because you realize it isn't even going to work after accidentally gluing your fingers together.

My skin will literally feel like it's crawling when I can tell something is wrong and don't know how to fix it. It literally hurts my soul. I send myself into panics and when I can't figure out how to solve a problem, I start crying because I'm frustrated. Math is the worst, we are not friends. I don't do confrontation and I hate arguments more than anything. If you're like me, you know exactly what I am saying.

I feel as though you are raised thinking that anything broken can be fixed. My father is a mechanic and my mother is a nurse. I literally was raised by people who make a living, you guessed it, fixing things and fixing people. If you're a person set on making everything work again after it's broken, you likely watched your mentors fix things all the time. We watch people in our lives help others while we are young then BAM, you're running around lost and insecure trying to help the world be a little brighter.

There is nothing wrong with trying to help people. There is nothing wrong with trying to fix everything. I know you're exhausted all the time. I know you're overwhelmed. You are frustrated that nothing seems to be going right, but it is. Things are going well, you just feel the need to make everything extraordinary. Wondering why you are this way is a waste of time because, quite frankly, you are magnificent.

You are a special breed of human. You are so compassionate it hurts, and you can't do things half-way. You care more about others than you do yourself and you'll do anything in your power to make someone happy. But sometimes, you'll need to be fixed too.

Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. When you are broken, ask for assistance and don't worry about being a burden. Admitting that you can't do something alone makes you brave. We can try to fix everything but sometimes helping yourself is the most difficult and frustrating experience.

So here's to you, the strongest kind of people I know. You are wonderful, you are appreciated and you are not alone.

Keep your head up,

Someone who tries to fix everything

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
