Every year for Halloween countless parties spring up all over campus and town, but I’ve never been the girl who wanted to be a part of that. I used to feel really isolated because most of the time I just wanted to go get a pizza and snuggle up in my bed with a good Halloween movie and my fall candles.
Then I realized it’s okay to be that girl. No matter how hard of a time your friends give you, it will always be okay to do what you like and what you’re comfortable with. You can enjoy Halloween without dressing up and going out or feeling pressured into going to a party.
Don’t feel like you’re missing out because you aren’t there with your friends. Chances are you wouldn’t be having fun if you went to make your own memories. Eat your favorite food, watch your favorite Halloween movie whether it’s a horror movie or a Hocus Pocus movie. Drink some pumpkin spice or whatever your favorite fall drink is and have some time for yourself.
But the best part about staying in is getting the candy at the end of the night. Whether you live near a Kroger, a Walmart or a CVS, go get some discounted candy to snack on.
Candy is often really expensive, but those after Halloween sales are the best. Go around ten or eleven o’clock and get some bags of your favorite kind of candy and take it home to enjoy with another movie or a pre-bedtime snack.
The moral of the story is you don’t have to follow the crowd on Halloween. You only get so much time to spend doing things you enjoy and there is nothing wrong with staying home and watching movies you enjoyed in your childhood or making a batch of Halloween cookies.
Staying in on holidays can be some of the most fun you’ll have and I guarantee your friends will be all over any cookies or candy you have. Maybe you don’t make memories with them at the parties or events in town but you can be their ride and enjoy the after Halloween spoils with them the next day. So do what makes you happy and comfortable and make your own Halloween traditions!
