When I got accepted to ECU I never looked back. I didn't even consider more schools. In my mind, I was done and that was the only option. Here are some things to know if you are the same as me or considering being a Pirate.

Have an open mind. College is the perfect time to figure out who you are by yourself. Don't be scared to meet new people or try new things. This is the time to make your own decisions. You can't rely on your parents to decide for you.

It's okay to not know what you want to do yet. This is the time to figure out what pathway you take in life. You might change your mind 15 times but that's okay. I changed mine twice in my freshman year before deciding on my major. Just focus on doing what you love and the rest will fall into place.

Go to all of the football games. Football season is a huge part of ECU traditions. You can't beat singing "Livin on a prayer" at the top of your lungs with more than 30,000 people wearing purple and gold. It is a feeling like no other.

Get involved. One of the best ways to meet new people is to get involved. There is a club for everything. There are lots of student organizations and you are bound to find at least one that you fit into. It is a great way to find people that are interested in the same things as you and could help you through your college career.

Don't judge people before you get to know them. ECU is full of different people. Don't be so quick to judge people that are different than you. Don't judge people based on their appearance or first impressions. You could have more in common with that person than you think you do.

Go to class. You are going to wake up and feel like doing anything other than going to class but that's what you pay the big bucks for. You are not in high school anymore where they pass you along with good grades. Attendance usually counts for a grade (even though it might be a small one); trust me, it helps. You are going to want every point you can get.

Traditions. Don't ever walk under the cupola. Always yell "gold" when you hear someone yell "purple". From now on, always yell "E-C-U" when DJ Khalid says "Everybody's hands go up...".

Congratulations and welcome to ECU.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
