To the girl who became my friend when I really needed one....

Dear best friend,

There is so much I could say to you. You are someone who came into my life right before a huge transition, college. As the change started, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who can say they felt a roller coaster of emotions. With that being said, I have some things I really need to thank you for.

Thank you for the endless laughs.

Thank you for always brightening my day. Thank you for just being you, who never fails to make me laugh no matter what were doing. Thank you for singing stupid songs, like the Camp Fire song from SpongeBob in the car with me. As I'll mention later, thank you for makin me laugh so hard when we were getting spray tans.

Thank you for loving Mexican food as much as I do.

Thank you for always wanting to go to Mexican, and always eating way too much chips and salsa with me.

Thank you for being so open with me.

Thank you for always opening up to me and allowing me do to the same. Between the two of us, there is definitely no filter. Thank you for telling me all the crazy things you wouldn't tell anything else. Thank you for never judging me. Thank you for always listening.

Thank you for always going on double dates with me.

Although we both have boyfriends and we got them to be friends, so I'm sure they don't mind, thank you for always wanting to go on double dates with me no matter what we do. Thanks for walking around the mall with me when they wouldn't get out of Bass Pro Shop. Thank you for seeing movies that were a waste of money. Thank you for sitting on the hard concrete to watch monster trucks and waterless boat racing.

Thank you for going to get spray tans with me.

This one is probably kind of weird, but thank you for going to get free spray tans with me. Thank you for cracking up the whole time, and making me laugh so hard I almost cried when you opened your mouth and got spray tan all in your mouth.

Thank you for always understanding me.

Even when I kind of overreact about things, you always support me. You always understand why I'm mad or upset. You just get me, and that's why we click.

Thank you for being the best.

Thank you for introducing me to iced pumpkin spice lattes. Thank you for stressing over small things with me then laughing it off. Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for driving me to school when I was unable. Thank you for just being my person. I love you so so much and I don't know how I ever survived without you. So much love to ya.

Love,

Your bestie.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
