When you are looking for purpose in college, and you can't seem to find one.

Whatever your reason may be, you are at a university that is making you question the entire purpose of your life. It hard to wrap our heads around the idea of college, when we have been through 12 years of school beforehand. We would rather be out exploring the world, meeting new people, or taking a leap year (or four).

At this time in our life, when we don't think college is for us anymore, its time to evaluate how we have been spending our time in school. Embrace college as a place to learn more about yourself and develop qualities that will be lifelong.

Selflessness

This idea took the longest for me to understand. It's hard for us to realize that we don't just go to college for ourselves. Life is about interacting, loving and occasionally pleasing the people who are important to us. If college seems pointless to you, imagine the joy that your diploma will bring to your family, loved ones, and future employers. You must learn to make the best of a not-so-ideal situation.

Opportunity

We all have those classes where we feel like the assignments are a waste of time. If that's the attitude you have, you reap what you sow. If you half-ass assignments and don't make them your own, how do you expect to get anything out of them? Do the assignments for yourself. They may be pointless, but they become even more pointless when you don't even try to do anything for yourself with them.

Friends & Friends in High Places

College is a time to network for yourself. It isn't just about meeting your bridesmaids and Netflix-binge partners; you can meet the people who will help you get where you want to be in your future. Use every teacher, club, sorority and staff member to your advantage; these people can help you get your dream job. Make an effort to make friends with them and introduce yourself to as many people as you can.

Real World Experience

I like to call this "adulting." Adulting consists of doing a lot of things that need to be done, even though we don't really necessarily to do them. Can you handle doing things you don't want to do? For example, studying for all of those classes that seem pointless but require time and effort. How are you managing your responsibilities and stress levels? College is all about learning how to take care of yourself on your own, in a high-stress environment. Make time for yourself and figure out how to nourish your soul, while adulting.

Push yourself to grow and learn more about yourself than you do about your major. Make waves in your life until you feel like you can surf on the very waves that have been pushing you down. College may not be for you, but you can make it your own.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
