Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at 3:01 a.m. the world lost one of the most amazing women on reality television. Angela Raiola better known as “Big Ang” has touched the lives of many. Ever since her appearance on the second season of “Mob Wives” people have fallen in love with Big Ang. She is often seen as the peace-keeper in the fragile dynamic of the “Mob Wives,” rarely is it seen that Angela is seen fighting with someone. I think that is why so many feel in love with her. She had such a level head. Big Ang had this infectious personality that made everyone smile. Watching her on TV it was obvious that she was a genuinely good person. She was larger than life itself and she will be dearly missed.
Aside from her role on “Mob Wives” she also had her own show on VH1 called ”The Miami Monkey.” Angela was known for her famous bar the Drunken Monkey. Ever since I seen it on Television I had wanted to go to New York just to go to the Drunken Monkey. For my 21st birthday I had planned to take a trip up to New York to party at the Drunken Monkey, but unfortunately as we saw on the current season of “Mob Wives” the Drunken Monkey has closed down due to some legal issues.
She was also on a season of the hit VH1 series “Couples therapy” with her husband Neil. What I loved most about them being on that show, is you could see her in a different setting and still love her. On the show it was amazing to watch the couple argue about something and later go on Twitter and see everyone taking Ang’s side no matter if she was wrong or right because that is the kind of person Ang is. No matter what she does people will love her. She was the type of person that she could do no wrong in our eyes.
Over the course of her TV Angela has given us some amazing “gifable” moments. The larger than life star is always seen in the most hilarious and relatable gifs like these for example.
When she was talking about how water was for fish so she would have wine.
When people are just constantly on your nerves.
When you walk out since in Georgia weather
When the thirst gets too real.
On this the final season of “Mob Wives” we discover that Big Ang had just undergone throat surgery to remove a tumor the size of a lemon. She continued to have treatment for her throat and lungs, and doctors thought they had defeated the cancer. Then in recent episodes we find out that the cancer had returned. The cancer quickly developed to stag four. Big Ang being the fighter that she is fought for as long as she could until the cancer got the best of her. The world was devastated by the news. My friend called my while I was in class. I answered hoping she would say Ang got better but instead she told me Ang had died. I like many others was completely destroyed by the news. I typically don’t feed into the lives of celebrities, but Angela was different. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was more than just Big Ang from “Mob Wives.” She was Angela Raiola mother, daughter, sister, friend and inspiration. Big Ang will forever be loved and missed.
