To my furry little friend,
Leaving you behind to go away to school was very hard. As I packed my bags, you sat by my side and watched me, wondering where I would be going. I even remember you jumping into my suitcase and laying on my clothes. I know you didn't want me to leave.
I wanted a dog my whole life, and when we finally got you a few years back, it was one of the greatest days of my life. I remember how tiny and adorable you were and I couldn't wait to tell all my friends that I got a puppy. The happiness I felt on the day you joined our family is the same happiness I still feel when I come home after being away at school.
Dogs truly are "Man's Best Friend." You are my best friend and my canine companion. You listen when I am sad and you comfort me when I am sick or stressed out. I believe that you know when I am upset, because laying by my side always makes me feel better.
I miss you when I am at school. College is hard and I wish you were here to comfort me when I am homesick, stressed about my classes, or sick. I miss your cute little cuddles and your wagging tail. I even miss hearing your annoying bark in the morning.
When my friends say that their favorite part of going home is getting to eat a home cooked meal, I disagree with them. My favorite part about going home is that the moment I walk through the front door, I am immediately greeted by you. The way you react to my presence is priceless. Your tail wags a million miles an hour and you can't contain yourself. You jump excitedly and even cry a bit. I hope you know that I am just as happy to see you as you are to see me.
I am sorry I had to leave you little buddy, and each time I leave I feel even worse. Mom tells me you act weird after I leave. You stay in bed all day and refuse to eat. The confusion you must feel makes me sad and I wish you could understand why I must go each time.
FaceTimes home are the best when mom and dad put you on the camera. It is so funny to see you looking around when you hear my voice because you have no idea you are on video chat. I am also thankful for all of the adorable pictures of you that mom and dad send me when I am feeling a bit homesick. They always seem to put a smile on my face.
If something were to happen to you while I am away at school, I would be devastated. Please stay healthy little friend and live a happy life. I will be home soon!
Love,
A college student who misses her puppy
