A Winter Break To-Do List
Noa Udler

*cue High School Musical music* What time is it? Finals time! But now they're over! Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen, I'm done with my second to last semester at my community college!

With finals being over signaling the start of winter break (which is five weeks by the way...I know right? I feel #blessed), I'm ready to take this time to make some more special memories and to go on amazing adventures with my friends and family. It still hasn't sunk in yet that I'm actually DONE and don't have to wake up early to go to class or spend my afternoons and weekends studying and doing papers. So the question is (since there's nothing but time), what to do...what to do? Well, I do have a few ideas that I would want to make happen this winter break in order to for it to be as magical and relaxing as I'm hoping it'll be. I think they're also relatable and can be applied to anybody's winter break fun activities planning, so if you're looking for some cool things to do this winter break, you're right where you need to be :)

1. Go to Universal Studios/Disneyland (I'm starting out with the best idea of them all)

2. Go on a road trip with friends!

3. Discover new "go-to" places if you want to eat, get coffee/tea, or just go to your happy place

4. Build a fort and do a movie or t.v. show marathon (with friends, family, or just by yourself, either way it's going to be freaking awesome because you're in a fort)

5. Get new books to read (you and your friends can get the same book, read it at the same time, and then can meet up at a cool coffee shop and have book club outings)

6. Go to San Francisco (if you're from the bay area), or any other main city near you and go out for a day of sight-seeing, shopping, and eating (the most important event)

7. Do one or two things that you've always wanted to do but never had the time or that you were too scared to do (like me going skydiving this winter break...jokes, I'm not jumping out of a plane)

8. Let the people you love know how much you appreciate them by, well of course firstly by telling them, but also by perhaps taking them out to dinner or planning a fun and special day out doing their favorite activity (and then buying them a really fancy and expensive gift to make sure you buy their love and affection)

9. Spend time on your passions and hobbies (I'm guessing they were brushed aside somewhat during the stressful and hectic semester (I know that mine were), so show them some love now that you have the time! :))

10. And last but not least, enjoy every minute of this break (and find some time to just sit and relax too), because you worked hard this semester and deserve this time off to spend time with your favorite people doing some of your favorite things! And if you can, remember to spread and give the love, not just this holiday season, but year-round, because that's what makes us as individuals feel comfortable and connected with others. It's what keeps us going everyday, our love for this world, for what we work for and what we learn, and for those we care so much about.

Have an amazing break! :)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
