Since I'm leaving for my freshman year of college after this summer, I've been thinking about all the things I'm going to miss once I leave.

1. Make a summer bucket list.

Write down all the things you want to accomplish this summer and aim to do at least one goal a month. Cross off the item when you've finished it, and you'll feel like you've done so much!

2. Start a bullet journal.

Make journaling your new hobby and you won't regret it. Draw, add mixed media, paint, color, and add memorable things to the journal. Write without a purpose or make a calendar. It can be your own safe space and a fun thing to work on on the side. It's inspirational and motivational.

3. Go on late night drives with your friends.

Even if you want to say no, say yes because in the end you won't regret the last-minute plans with your friends. Blast the music as loud as you can and roll down the windows to feel the fresh, brisk air.

4. Go shopping.

Buy some summer items in the meantime at your favorite mall or items for your future fall home.

5. Learn a new language.

Download the app Duolingo or work on it on your own, but dabble in a new language a little bit. It might be helpful later on in college when you're taking a class for real or if you're studying abroad in a foreign country.

6. Go to your favorite hangout spot/diner/restaurant.

Reminisce in the food you love that you can only have in your hometown. Remember the good times you had and all the people you shared it with.

7. Visit an amusement park.

This will remind you of the good ol' days as a child when you would ride every rollercoaster in the theme park. It might be the last time in a while before you can be such an adrenaline junkie.

8. Have a pool party!

Put on your swimming trunks or bikini and hop into a local pool or someone's backyard pool! Swim around and enjoy the hot rays of the sunshine before going off to college.

9. Light some fireworks.

Celebrate your going off to university with fireworks in the sky. Light them up and watch them sparkle.

10. Go on a road trip.

Visit a local national park or go beyond borders. Go on a road trip with people you love and make an adventure out of it, you won't regret it.

11. Make some homemade treats.

Ask your parents for some secret recipes and work together to make some sweet treats or shareable goodies. Spend some quality time with your family before going away from them.

12. Love on your pets.

Kiss them, hug them tight, and make sure they know they're loved. You're not going to see them very often after you go off to college and you're going to miss them. Oh and P.S., they're going to miss you too.

13. Say goodbye.

Say goodbye to your friends, family, and everyone and everything you love. It's going to be a while before you see them again. Tell them you love them. Don't leave things uncertain because you'll regret it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
