Valentine's Day has come and gone. All of the chocolate is now half price at every store (which, let's be honest, is the best part of Valentine's Day). And yet, some people are left with a feeling of being empty as they scroll through their Instagram and FaceBook pages. You wonder why you don't feel good enough, even after Single's-Awareness Day has come and gone. Believe me, I've been there... I wrote this for anyone who feels like they aren't enough.
You are more than what you see
You are more than what others perceive you to be.
You are made up of more than your surroundings.
You are made up of your past,
Of your childhood house,
Of your first wreck on your bike.
You are made up of your first kiss,
Your first love,
Your first heartbreak.
You are made up of your decisions
To let it all out, or bottle it in.
You are made up of the lessons your grandmother taught you when you were sitting in her den.
You are made up of the way your eyes light up when you do something you love
And your laughter that fills the air when someone says something funny.
You are made up of the sleepless nights crying over loss
Of the millions of tears that you cry.
You are made up of your determination and your passion.
Of your dreams and aspirations.
You were made by the God of the universe.
So who are you to say what you’re worth?
You are more than the clothes that you wear.
You are more than a number on a scale.
You are more than the words your best friend called you when she was hurt.
You are more than how you felt when you were at your worst.
You are more than what people think of you.
You are more than the choices that you make.
You are more than pictures and social media and putting on a face.
You are more than your name, your frame, your DNA.
You are more than the day you stumbled and lost your way.
You are more than grades in school.
You are more than what you do to make yourself seem cool.
You are more than a body.
You. Are. Enough.
This is for all the people who compare their behind-the-scenes footage with everyone else's highlights. It doesn't matter what other people say, what they're doing, or what they have. They will never have something that you do: you.
Please, never forget that you are enough, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
