A very wise woman once said, "All the single ladies, put your hands up."
Yes, everyone! It is that time of year once again... Valentine's Day! A day for couples to express their love and commitment to each other, and a day for singles to express their love and commitment to Netflix and ice cream!
Valentine's Day has always had the stigma of being a holiday explicitly for couples and people in devoted relationships. Well this year I’m going to embrace being a single pringle, and have some Valentine’s Day fun by myself, and here are seven ways that you can too:
1. Find your fellow singles
Strength in numbers, people! You can’t be sitting here thinking you’re the only lonely one this V-Day, can you? Go get up and find your fellow loners! I’m willing to bet that there is at least one other person out there who is judging all the mushy-gushy couples as much as you are.
2. Dress to impress
Ladies (and gents too!), you are still killin’ it even if someone else isn’t standing there with hearts and flowers to tell you that you are! Put on your favorite dress or your new button down and show yourself off. Single looks good on you!
3. Dress to de-stress
Maybe trying to find a Valentine has got you ready to tap-out. Well, you can do just that! Grab that oversized tee or your flannel onesie and get all snuggled up. I think I would rather be binge-watching my favorite TV Show in my pajamas than trying to fight some lady in target over the last box of chocolates.
4. Buy yourself something nice
So you don’t have someone this year to buy you a Valentine’s Day gift. This also means you don’t have to buy anyone else a gift either! Spend that extra money you have on something you have been wanting for a while. You deserve a little splurge, honey!
5. Watch literally any movie with Zac Efron in it
I wasn’t kidding… Don’t you feel a little better already?
6. Send yourself a gift
When in doubt, you can always pretend you have a Valentine. What says “I love you” more than your significant other sending you something to surprise you? Make all your friends jealous when you open up that very special Edible Arrangement or cute gift package from your secret admirer! They will never know it’s you... sit back with that fruity bouquet and soak in that sugary goodness. Chocolate covered strawberry, anyone?
7. Be with people who make you happy!
Everyone deserves to be with that special someone on Valentine's Day. This year, make that special someone your best friend, you sister, you roommate, whoever! Make sure that you keep a smile on your face and some cupcakes close by, and I'm sure you'll be fine!
Just breathe, and be single and proud! Grab some gal pals and have a good time! You can make this V-Day great! (Maybe even make a slumber party out of it and grab those those half price deals on the left over chocolate tomorrow! That's a real holiday!)
