10 Tips For Surviving Lollapalooza

Lolla is a great time, but there are lots of things you can do to make it a smoother and more memorable experience. Here are some ways to get the most out of your money at Lollapalooza.

Try not to bring a bag

This is easier said than done when you're planning an entire day away from home, but try not to bring a bag in. Everyone that brings a bag has to go through a separate line with a thorough pat-down and a long glance inside your bag. Avoid the long wait and don't bring a bag!

Bring sunscreen and a hat

Summer in Chicago is very sunny and hot in August. You are standing outside all day and rarely in the shade so making sure you are protecting your body from the sun is very important.

Try not to bring cash

Worrying about dropping or losing your cash at a big event like Lolla is never fun, especially if you don't bring a bag. Every vendor I encountered at Lolla accepted credit and Debit cards so ditch the cash and bring a card!

Bring a poncho

The weather in Chicago around August is usually really warm, but incase it takes a turn for the worst have a rain poncho on you. You wouldn't wanna be listening to your favorite music soaking wet, especially when the sun goes down.

Bring an empty water bottle

Water bottles at Lolla are like $5 so, having an empty water bottle with you that you can fill up at their filling stations is the smart way to go. Not only is it faster, but it's also a way to save money.

Avoid peak check-in times

Coming at peak times is the worst. The lines are bad enough at quiet times. Also If you know that a majority of people are going for a specific artist then try to go a few hours before or after that artist performs to avoid that crowd as well.

Watch your drinks

No matter what you're drinking make sure you are aware of your surroundings. Anyone can do anything to your drink when you're not looking. Keep those eyeballs on your drink.

Look out for others

Make sure if you're with a group that you all stay together and look out for each other. It's also important to be aware of others as well. People can get really rowdy and really anything can happen. Try your best to stay alert!

Have a Plan For Your Day

Make sure at least a few days before your time at Lolla you plan out your days. If you want to see more than one artist you have to have a plan of how to get where you need to be and what time you have to be there.

 Bring earplugs

Trust me it seems crazy, but you'll want them. They make multiple hours of screaming people and very loud music a lot more bearable. Plus it's actually easier to carry on a conversation with earplugs in.

Lolla is a great time, but it can be even more enjoyable if you do it the smart way. Follow these 10 tips to the best of your ability and Lolla will be the time of your life. Have fun and be safe.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
