Welcome to the good life.

1. Find out where your classes are before the first day of school.

By doing this it will help you get used to the college campus so you don't get lost trying to find stuff on the first day.

It also helps you figure out where the important stuff like where CFA is.

2. Do not stay locked up in your dorm room.

Yes it is really cute but, how are you supposed to make friends and meet new people if you stay locked up in your dorm room all the time. Go out, go eat, go meet new people, you'll thank me later.

3. Do not lose your student ID.

Believe it or not, you will not be able to do much without a student ID. That is how you swipe into the gym, check out at the library, eat, go into your dorm room. If you lose it you're pretty much done until you get another one.

4. Make sure you have everything for your classes.

On the first day you don't have to have everything but something to write little notes down on is ideal. The first day mainly entails the syllabus and going over what the class is gonna cover.

5. Make sure you set alarms for your classes!

Okay seriously waking up and being late on the first day of classes that is not good at all. Your professor will always remember you as the person that came in late... that is not the first impression you want to give.

6. Don't overload yourself with activities before classes even start.

I would highly recommend going to the club fair but don't overload yourself with clubs and extracricuulars before you know roughly how much homework you're going to have.

Do not buy your textbooks early.

You never know If you are going to stay in the same classes you signed up for, so I would highly recommend not buying your text books early.

8. Don't stay out late if you have 8ams.

I did this a couple of times and could hardly function the next day. So I would highly recommend not to do that.

9. Go eat out with your friends.

Go to one of the best restaurants in town and bring your friends with you.

10. For the love of God get along with your roommate.

Your freshmen experience will definitely not be fun at all if you don't get along with your roommate. You won't even be in your dorm that much just make sure you get along with them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
