You know you’ve enjoyed the holidays when your pants become difficult to button. We’ve all been there, it’s way too hard to turn down your grandma’s homemade cookies or you mom’s favorite pie. And why should you? Tasty and delicious food is what makes the holiday season special. It’s the one time you get to indulge without feeling guilty or judged about it because everyone around you is doing it too! Plus, food brings love, laughter, joy, and most importantly it brings people together. The only downside to the mouthwatering goodies that come along with Christmas and New Years is the aftermath. The number on your scale begins to increase, your skin starts to break out, lastly, you become sluggish and fatigued. This can all be reversed by detoxing your body, which can be done through cleansing. Many find it challenging to get back into their everyday health routine after the holidays. The best way to kick start your process in getting your everyday routine back is to CLEANSE.

Here is all of the information you need to know for one of my favorite cleanses. It will help flush out toxins in your body and cleanse your system!

MASTER CLEANSE

Drink six to 12 glasses a day and plenty of water in between. This cleanse can be done for about three to 14 days. Food is not consumed during the cleanse.

Ingredients for one glass:

-8 OZ water

-2 TBSP organic maple syrup

-2 TBSP lemon juice

-1 pinch cayenne pepper (powder form)

OPTIONAL ADDITIONS TO MASTER CLEANSE

You can choose to pair this cleanse with a Salt Water Flush. Start each morning with a quart of lukewarm water with 2 TBSP of sea salt.

Occasionally drink a cup of peppermint tea throughout your cleanse.

AFTER THE CLEANSE

Make sure to stay away from solid foods for a couple of days in order to introduce food back into your diet. Start with non-solid food like yogurt, smoothies, and oatmeal, this will help your body adjust to solid food after the cleanse.

As you add solid food back into your diet, you can begin to add small workouts as well, like walking, swimming, etc. You can then begin to introduce intensive exercises like cardio once your body has adapted to the simpler workouts.

Health and fitness is a lifelong journey so don't be hard on yourself and remember to stay positive! These are a couple of easy ways to help jumpstart your healthy lifestyle after the holiday season. Good luck and happy cleansing!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
