Tips for Acing your Disney College Program Phone Interview

The interview is the most nerve-wracking part of the DCP application process, at least it was for me! Here are some of the tips and tricks that I used in my interview and it must have worked because I was accepted for the Fall 2020 program!

Be Honest

While you may want to embellish your skills and experiences and give the answers that you think Disney wants to hear, it's important to be honest.

Write Down Your Interviewers Name

By thanking your interviewer by name it shows that you paid attention and that you really care about the process!

Smile

I know it sounds dumb to smile while you're talking on the phone, but you can hear a smile in someone's voice. Smiling makes you friendlier and more likable. It's important that you make a good impression since this is your only human to human interaction in the application process.

Be Prepared to Ask Questions

By having questions it shows that you have done your research and want to know more about the program. If you don't have any questions about the program, ask your interviewer a personal question. Many of them completed the Disney College Program so ask them about their experience, or what their favorite part of working for Disney is, or even a difficult question like what was their worst experience. An interview should be a two-sided conversation!

Find Somewhere Quiet

Be sure to be in your own space for your interview. It's a high stress situation and the last thing you need is you roommate to come in and start distracting you or your dog wanting attention. The interview requires you to think on your feet and present you at your best and you can't do that by giving just half of your attention.

Pause and Breathe

The interviewer knows that you have to think. Don't rush into your answer if you aren't prepared to start speaking. It's better for you to take a minute, think about the question and then respond than to immediately start rambling. The interviewer wants you to be successful, they aren't trying to trip you up. They're just trying to see how you think on your feet and how you respond to different situations!

Best of luck on your application journey! Sending lots of pixie dust your way future applicants and have a magical day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
