I hate studying for finals just as much as the next person. Not only is it mind-numbingly boring it is stressful. When you have five finals in less than a week that determine what feels like your entire future, it can be unbearable. Honestly, you will just get to the point to where you don’t even want to try to study at all because it just doesn’t feel worth it.

Well if you get to this point where you can’t study anymore there are things you can do to take your mind off of the task that you are avoiding. So here are some tips to avoid studying for your finals. I mean how important are they really?

1. Clean your room

This is one of my personal favorites. When you are sitting in your room trying to study you tend you to see all of the little things that would normally never bother you. But, when you are trying to do the terrible task of finals studying the irritating little imperfections call to you to be cleaned. Don’t resist them go, go and clean. Studying can wait.

2. Go to the gym

Going to the gym may not be the ideal place to avoid studying. But, if you go then at least you will still feel productive. You’re working on something at least just not working on helping your GPA.

3. Scroll through social media, a lot

Scrolling through your social media can be a great way to avoid studying. It takes up a lot of time and who knows you may even learn something. Even if it’s just that some celebrity wore an ugly outfit. I mean the more you know right?

4. Stare out your window

Look studying for finals in awful we all know this so to take your mind off of it just stare out the window for a while. It might cheer you up or make you feel worse but at least you’re not having to read notes for a short time.

5. Shop for things you don’t need online

When I avoid finals studying I love to online shop for things that I never in a million years would need. But, something about combing through pages and pages of hats to put on your dog can really cheer you up.

6. Take a trip or three to target

GO TO TARGET. Even if you don’t need anything at all you will waste so much studying time as well as buying too many things. But, hey you probably got a deal so it’s fine.

7. Binge watch Netflix

Start a new Netflix show to avoid studying it is truly one of the most effective ways. You can take up hours and hours by doing this and when you’re done you may not even know what day it is.

8. Chat with friends for hours on end

Talking with friends not only is a good study avoidance strategy but it is also quite therapeutic. You may start off chatting about fun things but it inevitably turns into a gripe session about how college and finals suck and usually ends with the “well C’s get degrees, am I right?”

While these avoidance tips are great, in the end, you still have to study because you still need to graduate.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
