As the school year comes to a start so does the period of the year where I have to remind myself that time management is a thing. Time management is possibly the most important skill you'll learn in college and it is an absolute necessity if you're as busy as I am throughout the year.
So how do you manage your time?
Everyone has their own style when it comes to time management, but for me, it always comes down to organization.
The second you have syllabus day at the beginning of the semester, you should be putting every due date down in your planner. I also keep a daily schedule in my bullet journal and use Google Calendar for group events.
One of the best ways I stay organized is by color coding in all my planners as well. Depending on whether something is for a class, extracurricular, or work, I'll color code it with highlighters and pens so that it's easier to know what my day will look like with just a glance.
Another great way to manage time is by not procrastinating. This is definitely the hardest thing to follow as I'm notorious for waiting until the last minute to work on projects that I’ve had all semester to do. But seriously, procrastination is a bad idea.
At the end of the day, what time management really comes down to ia not doing more than you can handle. You need to remember that you're just one person. You need time to sleep, eat, relax and socialize, so just be sure you never pack your schedule too much, even if you're a master at managing your time.
