Junior year of high school is deemed to be the most challenging year in school, and whoever said that knew what they were talking about. Through pain and torment, achievement and understanding, it’s easy to find that best part of a difficult time when testing the limits of how strong someone is. With this being said, I have learned a thing or two (really three) about rules to live by.
1. Drink something warm.
Those days when you feel like you're broken from the inside-out fighting to hold back the sobs inside of you, drink something warm. It could be the hottest July date on record or the coldest December day when you're locked away in your room. Drink a tea or a hot chocolate that will warm you from the inside out. It will be like drinking rays of sunshine that radiates pure happiness into you, making those broken pieces heal.
2. Take It One Day At A Time
Everyday day is a new story-line that is yours to write. You can't fix yesterday, you can't predict tomorrow, but you can always control today. If you are afraid of that test coming up, take three deep breaths and let your mind escape for a moment. If you have a house payment coming up and do not remember the last time your were not stressed about a deadline, relax. You will figure it out, that day will later come. You have today and the next and another so take it one day at a time. You will be okay, you will still go on.
3. Always Have a Goodbye Kiss
This one will get you. It’s a final moment that gives a bittersweet taste in the memories that will follow. Once you have this there is no going back, and for me personally I have yet to see them again. This kiss is a tender moment that bonds two together but no one talks about the last time you share a tender moment of sorrow. Goodbye may mean till you see them again tomorrow but until tomorrow comes you may realize that they will not be there. This is okay. They may come back. This is also okay. A goodbye kiss is the last moment in which you give yourself one last time to the person you could spend the rest of every day together. I find happiness in the thought of one more moment to make me stay up at night and think about another that will never happen. A good memory to cover for the hollow that could come, a goodbye till you find another last goodbye kiss.
Drink something warm, to give your heart the radiance it needs.
Take it one day at a time, to free your mind of worry and give yourself peace.
Always have a goodbye kiss, for you never know where the love of your life will come and go.
