This is Depressing.
There will come a time when you are packing and you start to feel sad about leaving home again. Putting all of your belongings into bags and boxes once again can become actually painful. You may start to get sad thinking about leaving your family, your childhood room, and all of your oldest friends. But don’t worry, they’ll all be there when you get back.
This is Exciting!
YOU’RE GOING BACK TO SCHOOL! YAY! Very soon you will be reunited with the people you’ve longed to be with all summer. The people that make your time at school the absolute best it can be. Also, the lack of parental supervision is like a breath of fresh air. You’re the adult again when you’re back at school, and for the most part, it’s pretty great.
Do I really need all of this stuff?
How on earth did I accumulate so much stuff in just a couple of months? You probably left school with two suitcases, but chances are, you’re returning with at least four (and maybe some garbage bags too). So start shoving all of your stuff into every available bag you have and pray it fits into the car.
Holy crap that’s heavy.
How much does this bag actually weigh? Over packing is going to happen, there’s no way around it. You can’t take any chances of forgetting anything so just pack it all. And if you don’t end up needing all of that stuff, at least you got a really great arm workout.
Ugh, school supplies.
Even though you’re stoked to go back to school, you don’t have actually want to go back to school. Packing your school supplies reminds you that you are going to do actual work when you get back to campus. But for now, just shove those notebooks and highlighters into the bottom of your suitcase and don’t let the thought of them haunt you on your drive back. They can wait a couple of more weeks.
AHHHHHH!
There’s still so much to do and so little time! You still have to do some back to school shopping to get all the necessities while your parents are still paying for things. There are all the people that you still need to see before you go. You promised you’d hang out, but you’re cutting it down to the wire. You still have to say your goodbyes and make the rounds to all your friends and family trying not to get too teary.
Bye-bye summer.
The summer was great, and you’re sad to leave it behind. You think about all of the great times you had and you’re depressed it’s over. But here’s the thing; you’re going to have another summer next year and the year after that for as long as you live. Some will be better than others, but they’ll always be memorable. So, say see you later to the summer and embrace the fall because it’s going to be pretty awesome, too.
