30 Thoughts Your Server Is most likely Having While Stressfully Waiting On Your Table

Working in the food industry is not an easy job. You work long excruciating hours, are constantly on your feet running around trying to make sure your guests have the best possible visit and find every ounce of your apron and uniform covered in some sort of food and mysterious liquid by the end of the night.

As you sit and chow down on your delicious and perfectly prepped meal, it may seem like your waiter or waitress may actually have it all together... here is what they are really thinking about:

1. "I closed last night and I am so exhausted, at least my section looks clean though!"

2. " Ok when am I going to be sat, someone tell the host I need a table"

3. "Did I really just get triple sat?"

4. So, I need 3 glasses of water; one with lemon, one without ice, and one with lemon and extra ice...got it"

5. "I am so broke, maybe I should offer to close tonight"

6. "I'm in a really good mood I have a feeling I am about to make a lot of money"

7. "Maybe I should ask ________ to close for me instead actually"

8. "What is this white stuff on my apron and how did it even get there?"

9. "Is tonight even going to be busy?"

10. "Why have I only had 2 tables so far..."

11. "Shit, I think I rang in the wrong order"

12. "Did my food go out yet?" *Checks table to see if food made it out* "Welp, guess not"

13. "How do I ring in this alcoholic drink that I don't even know exists?"

14. "I have to get appetizer plates for one table, drinks for another, greet the party of 7 that just sat down, and..." *Insert a million other things to do in a matter of 0.5 seconds*

15. "Please and thank you would be lovely, ma'am!"

16. "That is the cutest baby I've ever seen in my entire life"

17. "That is the cutest grandma I've ever seen in my entire life"

18. "That is the nastiest group of old ladies I've ever met in my entire life"

19. "Oh yeah, 20% tip baby!!"

20. "I'm crashing terribly NO ONE TALK TO ME"

21. "My fingertips are completely numb from grabbing that hot plate I think they need to be surgically removed and replaced IMMEDIATELY"

22. "DID MY FOOD GO OUT?? IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SENT OUT WITH THE APPETIZER"

23. "Wow this table really likes me, maybe they'll leave a nice tip"

24. "I should probably do my side work"

25. "My section is filthy I really need to sweep"

26. "This person is speaking to me in a different language... just smile and nod"

27. "Yup, almost dropped your entire meal on the floor"

28. "Wow I got all of my tables together so fast, I amaze myself every day"

29. "I wonder how much I made tonight"

30. "Oh well, I'll be back tomorrow night anyway"

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
