Ah, the first day of a new semester. After a month-long break, college students flood back to their college towns, refreshed and ready to take on the semester. As we struggle to get our textbooks and settle into our new classrooms and lecture halls, here are thirteen thoughts all college students have on the first day of a new semester:

1. UGH. Why did I sign up for such an early class?

Honestly though, who let me think signing up for a 9 am was a good idea.

2. Where should I sit?

This is one of the most important decisions in college, as your unofficial assigned seat becomes your home.

3. OMG. There's my friend! I'm not alone!

Thank goodness my friend is here, now I don't have to sit alone.

4. Where is this building?

Seriously, I've been here for three semesters already, why can't I find this building?

5. I hope this is the right classroom...

This doesn't look like my psychology class, but I guess this is right.

6. Maybe we'll just read the syllabus and leave.

A girl can dream... right??

7. Our textbook is really $400?

Really though... I miss free textbooks.

8. Ok, this DEFINITELY isn't the right class.

I guess my first hint should've been when a male started teaching for my female professor.

9. I wonder how much I'll actually have to study for this class.

The correct answer is: every single day at least 45 hours per day.

10. Oh heck yes, class is over already!

Nothing is better than syllabus day only taking 10 minutes.

11. What do you mean I already have six assignments due? It's the first day!

And our first exam is next week? Oh boy.

12. I need a nap.

Better get some sleep while I still can.

13. Man, I'm so happy to be back at my university.

I can't wait for another semester at the best place on earth!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
