As a new semester approaches, students return to college after a month as if nothing has changed, but there are also the ones that will not be going back to their normal school. It's happening to at least one person we know. They had to move out all their stuff before winter break, pack up everything as if they haven't lived there for an entire semester and throw themselves into the abroad experience. All the questions that have been asked by your family members have been leading up to this moment, the moment you get on that plane and head out of the country. Here are a few things that are reoccurring thoughts in your head before you go abroad:
1. How am I supposed to fit a semester's worth of clothes into this one suitcase and one carry-on?
2. I hope these people understand English, because there is absolutely no hope of me learning an entirely new language in one semester.
3. If I have to look at one more Snapchat of all my friends together at school, I'm going to just delete Snapchat all together.
4. This food better be absolutely incredible based off of what people have been telling me about non-American food.
5. And considering the food is healthier with no preservatives, I better be coming back to this country with a few pounds cut off.
6. The world is my oyster.
7. I've heard too many horror stories to be completely fine with jumping on a plane and not returning for four months.
8. How am I going to survive four months without my dog?
9. I want to count how many times my mom and dad asked how to reach me.
10. Will people be more friendly than Americans in the middle of Times Square?
11. How will my feet look after a day of walking nonstop?
12. I am about to have the time of my life.
