Your Thought Process While at a Party

This ought to be fun!

From awkward conversations to dancing on tables, the only thing we know for sure is that next weekend we will be doing this all over again. Here, all the things you think about while at a party:

Knocking On the Door

You finally have tracked down the right address, it only took like 20 more minutes than it should have due to literally herding to this one location. You reach up and rap out a quick rhythmic knock on the door. God [why did you come], this is already annoying. You wonder to yourself if whomever opens the door will ask for a funny password. Then you chuckle to yourself knowing that that’s ridiculous. In the back of your mind you address the fact that if they really did ask for a secret password that you wouldn’t know it.

Crossing the Threshold

The person who you kind of know but not well enough to get that excited that they opened the door is standing before you. Locking eyes, you slap on your sweetest smile and expect them to move out of the way so you can get the evening festivities going, ya know what Im sayin'? You can already tell what kind of party this will be by how loud the music is and how many screaming girls you hear.

Scanning the Scene

You have a small Ke$ha moment right when you strut in and realize that 'the party don’t start until you walk in'. Your outfit is on point and your eyebrows are on fleek (you made sure, ok) so you confidently scan your horizon by rotating your head from side to side and having a little bit of fidgety eyes. It’s kind of a slow motion thing, for a moment everyone is looking at you and you're looking at everyone. You see who’s there that you know and who’s there that you might want to get to know. Basically, you’re judging everyone by his or her appearance, only for a second though. After you have met everyone’s gaze you feel a tad awkward or self conscious... and might start questioning your outfit choice.

Greetings

You’re not emotionally ready, but you throw yourself out there. First you retreat to the closest friends you know. Praise that these people are there--like this party would have been so awkward for you if they weren’t. The group you came with disperses as different people start to make their rounds of greetings. You hastily run up to someone who you’re acquainted with, "OMG! Hey girl, heyor the the awkward, "How's it going Usually, something similar comes out of your mouth. You continue on with 5-15 minuets of casual conversation until someone new catches your eye.

Refreshment Break

Wow all those greetings really took a toll on you! Your energy and tolerance is at a low. It’s time for a refreshment break to re-fuel, kind of like those Gatorade commercials. You finish your drink or take it with and get back to the party. So knock back some Haterade and gets ta steppin!

The party is in full swing now and people are starting to feel more comfortable with each other. You’re feeling real good about yo-self so you break out the dance moves. You and your friends don’t care if anyone in the room is dancing or singing along to the songs, but you sure are. You’re the freaking Cheetah Girls right now, strut like you mean it! The party is in the phase where there’s still some chatting going on but really everyone has found their hangout group. You relax and just enjoy yourself. It’s the best part of the party.

Sentimental Goodbyes

Fatigue kicks in. You’ve been up all day and let’s be real, it’s way past your bed time. You start the process of saying your goodbyes. And it really is a process. You feel like you’re way closer with everyone now because you’ve all experienced this amazing party together. Hugs all around and claims of hanging out more in the future. It takes a little bit to round up the stragglers of your group who stuck around and get them out the door. You all talk on your way home about how that actually turned out to be a decent party. Finally you’re in your room and reunited with your beautiful bed. You think to yourself “wow what a fun night” and “I can’t wait for breakfast, Im so hungry already” and rest your sleepy eyes, knowing that next weekend you’re going to do it all again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
