To Those Mourning a Loved One

Lord, in your Hands I commend my spirit.

To Those Mourning a Loved One
Eliza Cabrera

There are no words to heal the pain you feel. If I could say a few magical words, believe me, I would. You are allowed to feel everything you feel right now, and those feelings are real and valid. Let out your rage, your sorrow and your suffering. Cry as long as you need to, desahogate, let it all out. It is your right to mourn.

By the sweat of your brow

you shall eat bread,

Until you return to the ground,

from which you were taken;

For you are dust,

and to dust you shall return.

Genesis 3:19

You may feel like your world is spinning out of control, and even though it may seem like you just can't take any more blows from life, reach out your hand to those you love. They share your pain; they know what this person means to you; they understand your loss and they will support you during this difficult time.

Remember, the things that made you love this person. Their smile, their laugh, their favorite food, your favorite memories, the way they made you feel. These precious things will always be in your heart, the beloved person departed will always remain in your heart. Have faith that one day, you will meet again in Paradise.

Jesus told her,

“I am the resurrection and the life;

whoever believes in me,

even if he dies, will live,

and everyone who lives and believes in me

will never die.”

John 11:25-26

Even though you've lost someone you truly care about and love deeply, believe they are in a better place. Pray they are with our Lord. Pray they are resting in heaven. Pray they no longer are suffering. Pray for their eternal peace. Que ellos en paz descansen, pray they rest in peace. When you feel like you are broken and you can't keep going, pray. Pray for strength, healing and comfort. Pray for the heavy heart you are carrying to be lifted. He will not abandon you; He will not let you suffer; He will take you under His wings, and there you shall rest. In difficult times, pray.

Comfort me with Your love O God

Comfort me with Your love O God
Wrap me up in Your strong embrace
Shelter me from the storm O Lord
Envelop me in Your tender care

By day I pour out my heartbreak to You
By night I give you my racing thoughts

In You I take refuge
In You I will not be afraid
For you hold me strong, You hold me safe

Calm my fearful heart O God
Still my anxious mind O Lord

For all my life is found in You
All my being is given to You
All my hope begins in You

To all those whom we have joined our Heavenly Father in Paradise, although your wings were ready, our hearts were not. You are missed deeply every single day. Please watch over us until we meet again. We love you with all of our hearts and souls.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
