I have heard from so many people lately, especially from my peers, that they don't really know what to believe in or what to follow. There are various religions and groups people choose to follow in this world, so I completely understand what they mean by this. Each organization has a proper belief system and certain rules/traditions that they follow. With over 4,200 religions in practice today, several people will contemplate to go, since each one claims what they believe very strongly and is solid in what they have faith in.
If you are struggling to have faith in a Higher Power and/or to be a part of a religion, I'm here to tell you that it is OK. If your family believes in one thing, but you question it, it's OK. Talk to people about what they believe, because it might help you gain a new perspective on what is out there in the world. You are not abandoning your family and saying that they are wrong; you are just trying to explore different views. They might want you to keep practicing the traditions of their religion out of respect for them, until you move out of the house. If they cannot accept your change of views, try to explain even further why you want to be a part of something else and have faith in another higher power. Don't get me wrong: it will be difficult, but if you believe it is the right choice for you, then it will work out somehow.
With each belief system in the world today, there are many common grounds between each one of them. Most believe in a higher power, whether it is God, Jesus, Allah, Muhammad, personal Gods, Buddha, deities, Brahman, various objects, science, and maybe even you yourself can be a God. There is a Supreme Power watching over us or is within us that we follow and is there to help us through life.
For those that are the type of people that need to see it to believe it, it can be frustrating because some religions are forcing you to have faith in something that you cannot see. They rely on the miracles, visions, and answers to prayer to be the actions that show that there is something there, which are not enough for some people. Over time, you might find that it is easier to believe from those actions, but if that doesn't happen to you, it's OK. People will still accept you for wanting more, because it is hard to comprehend things that occur on Earth that we cannot explain without using a physical being.
One aspect that should be consistent in each faith is love. Without different types of people in this world there would be no diversity and no uniqueness to show off. People thrive on love because they will know that they are special and important without taking into consideration what they believe in and/or what they practice.
So, if you struggle with finding faith in something or someone, fear not: so are many other people. But hopefully endless love will be shown to you if or when you choose to believe in something, because that's what you deserve.
