If you search fall outfits on Pinterest, it's no surprise that you'll see a vest or two. If you search for fall outfits in my closet, you'll see a vest or two or eighteen.
I know what you're thinking. I'm thinking it too. I need help.
It all started when my parents got me a monogrammed vest for Christmas (which leads to another obsession of mine-- monograms). It was cute, but it was blue so I couldn't wear it with a whole lot. When I went to purchase another vest I went with black because I figured it would be more versatile, and it was. I couldn't stop at one black vest though. I had to get a black fleece one as well for days when the outfit was a little more casual than the black quilted one called for. It all pretty much went downhill from there.
Now I can proudly say that I have a vest to match all of my fall and winter outfits. They're perfect for pulling on over a long sleeve t-shirt or a flannel, and they've given me a more welcoming attitude towards the harsh Kansas winters I've been recently introduced to.
It's not easy being invested in this fashion trend. It's not just the large portion of my bank account that has taken a hit for my addiction. There's always people investigating why it is that I wear them every day or asking me how they serve a purpose if they don't even keep your arms warm. I think that if they tried one of these puppies on they would understand, so I laugh it off and wait till the day I can say "I told you so."
To all my vest pals out there, forget about the haters. I think you're stylin'.
