Thank you to my best friend,
My first article I ever wrote was “A Letter to my Future Best Friend”. At the time of feeling alone and just needing someone to be there for me, I wrote about it. Two weeks later I was introduced to that person. So, best friend, this is for you.
Thank you for being everything I prayed for and more.
You are always up for Sonic trips and late night Whataburger. You laugh with me and cry with me, and I hope you know I will always do the same for you. Thank you for looking at every outfit I show you and telling me if it makes me look fat or not, and not getting mad when I still change even when you say I look fine. Thank you for loving queso and Jesus and letting me claim your dog. But mostly, thank you for loving me so well.
You constantly push me to better myself.
I am stubborn and I think that I know everything. I am too independent for my own good and I try to stay strong when I really shouldn’t. The good news is, you are the same exact way and because of that I get to be a little less strong around you. You are constantly showing me Jesus in the way you treat me. Your patience for me and your never failing love is something so beautiful and pure. It is something that I didn’t think friendships truly had until I met you and I thank the Lord a little extra for you everyday.
The man you marry is going to be the luckiest man in the world.
Your smile lights up the world, and your laugh is completely contagious, and maybe it’s because I say these things that people think we are a couple.. but the man who sees pass our awkwardness is a true keeper. The man you marry will be gaining someone who will constantly show love and happiness even when you both feel like happiness is nowhere to be found. He will get someone who will surprise him with tea before work even though you had an earlier morning than him. The man you marry will gain my best friend, and there isn’t any better gift in the world.
Finally, and I think this is the most important so listen up.
You were an answer to a prayer that lasted months. I prayed for someone to hold me when I needed to cry, and to walk for me when I couldn’t stand, and then two weeks later He gave me you. So when I tell you I am thankful for you, I really need you to understand how much. You helped pick me up when I didn’t know how to myself. You showed me the joy of the Lord and helped me believe that I could do anything that I set my mind to.
So best friend,
Thank you for being you. Thank you for randomly asking me to hang out and then deciding that I was good enough for us to keep doing so. Life is a little easier with you walking through it with me, and I wouldn’t trade that for the world.
