I have been told to shut up, I have been cussed out, told that my opinion does not matter, I have been told this all because of a belief. A belief to have none of the kind, an idea or thought that there may be no god. I do not write this with intent to strike you of your own thoughts and beliefs but to tell my story and reasoning behind it.

I am considered a millennial, an age group that is known to not favor religion and a generation that has had the highest percentage of people to be known as atheist or like of the same idea. Because I fall under this principle older generations think that I must fall under all other accusations of my generation. I am thought to be misguided and that I must be ungrateful and believe that everything must be given to me. Overall, I can attest that it is not the case. Just because I do not believe that a god exists does not mean that I am ungrateful or do not know of the so-called sins that come with greed. Just because I have never read the bible in full or go to church every Sunday does not mean I do not agree with any of it, nor that I know nothing of being humble.

In my eyes, to be an atheist is the simple idea that I do not believe in any god. I have not made this thought because I want to be different, but because to me it makes no sense. To me, if there were an “all loving” god then there would be no suffering, no poverty, and no war. The term all loving is very generous to a god that lets children die just after birth, let children have cancer that kills them slowly from the inside out, lets them have abusive parents that strike them across the face for no reason.

I do, however, realize that if there were such a thing as a god, that it would be busy looking after everything so how could it think of every idea possible? This is something that a believer asked once, my response to that is if there is a god that created everything, then surely it knew what every organism is capable of. And it would know the effect that everything would have. Another thought that helps strengthen my idea of no god is that there are so many that are thought to be out there.

I would think that if there were a god then we could agree on one. There are thousands of gods thought to be about, many are thought to control portions of the earth. Humans are an amazing animal, for the fact that we can think and we all have our own opinions but we have another trait, reasoning. Humans are great reasoners to the point that I believe would have led to an agreement on one god.

Also what kind of greedy self-righteous god would have you kneel for hours a day begging for your desires. What kind of god would let followers wage war against those who believe in almost the same values? What kind of god would let such destruction to a beautiful world it would have created by its minions it set upon it?

These things are what I see wrong with the idea of an all-loving god. But what of the other gods, the Greek gods, ones that their followers knew they held wrath if they went against the gods. Simple answer is: provide proof. If any one person were to find definitive proof of any god that exists then I will agree that there is one. A book written by a handful of people that no one knows for sure if the stories that are depicted held true people, the stories themselves are even farfetched. The fact that people believe that someone was talking to a power greater than himself (voices in his head) and that he was their son to be accepted is baffling. If I were to tell people I talk to people in my head or dreams and they tell me what to do in my life I would be thought as crazy.

To be an atheist is not something to be frowned upon, it is simply an opinion. Atheism is not to be meant that I will not listen to your thoughts, or that I will tell you that you are wrong in your beliefs. No, atheism to me is simply the thought that it makes no sense that all of the gods’ followers have to follow certain rules to be welcomed into its world in the afterlife, yet they follow a god that does not abide by its own rules. Gods meaninglessly kill, they strike fear upon those who oppose them, they make people suffer for no reason, who are they to tell you what to do to live a

happy life if they themselves can not do it?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
