17 Reasons 'This Is Us' Is The Best Thing To Happen To TV In A Long Time

There are some shows out there that are the perfect example of "guilty pleasure," but it's extremely rare for a series to reel you in by bringing out all feelings imaginable. NBC absolutely nailed it when creating "This Is Us," and even America can testify.

The show is layered, raw, and multifaceted. It's centered with nostalgic flashbacks and flawed characters. "This Is Us" has a magnificent effect of getting viewers to really dig deep and, without really trying, relate to his or her family. There is laughter and there is drama. If we're being honest, there are tons of tears. As soon as an episode ends, you really can't help but want more and more— all while becoming severely emotionally attached to the characters and storyline.

"This Is Us" is truthfully the best thing to happen to TV in a long time. Here are 17 lessons the show reminds us of each episode:

1. No relationship is perfect, but at the end of the day, love will always conquer.

2. Always live in the moment because you don't know how it can change your life.

3. The importance of family should always be a priority.

4. Parenting is the hardest job of them all.

5. No matter the circumstance, always do the little things.

6. Your exterior does not define you.

7. Love knows absolutely zero boundaries.

8. Remind those who need reminding sometimes that they are worthy.

9. Never belittle yourself because being different is the best thing you can be.

10. When it comes to family, chaos will be your favorite tune.

11. Every family has its flaws, accept it.

12. It's OK to not be OK.

13. Closure has the ability to heal.

14. Never, ever take anything or anyone for granted.

15. Always be the biggest support system for those you love.

16. Always hold on to the memories because they will hold onto you.

17. Always take the sourest lemon life has to offer and make into something resembling lemonade.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
