I believe that friendship makes the world a better place.
In the year of seventh grade I didn’t know what a real friend looked like. A lot of mine weren’t close friends, and most often times I didn’t get invited places to do things. This made me really down. Towards the end of that year though, is when I accepted Christ. I prayed and prayed that I would find one amazing friend.
Well, a few weeks later this girl named Anna started coming to our youth group. We didn’t talk much at first, but eventually we did. We looked forward to seeing each other every Sunday evening, and would call one another numerous times throughout the week. I’m so glad I have her. After we became friends she really became the light in the world I needed. God knew how much I needed her to be that person to show me true unconditional love. Anna I went through middle school together, and many would assume after our youth group fell apart we wouldn’t have stayed in contact.Guess again. Though we may not have gone to the same school, and seeing each other became sparse there was still many weekly phone calls. I don’t think I would have made it through the first year without having Anna. That year had been a huge transition year for me. The circle of friends I did at my school became too cool to hang out or talk to me anymore. It really hurt not to have anyone at school, but I knew I could always call Anna to talk at the end of the day. Again she was the light in the gloom of freshman year. Anna and I remained friends through all of high school, and made it a point to see each other walk across the stage. Anna has been my light and still is my light when I see none. She is more than a best friend to me. She is my better half who makes my world a better place. One person I know who is definitely a lifelong friend.
Anna is my other half, but I have one other person that makes me believe that friendship makes the world a brighter place. It was freshman year gym class where I met Heather. Never did I think our friendship would grow past gym class, but it did. Through my high school years this girl would make me smile and laugh till it hurt when I was having a bad day. When it had been a rough week for both of us we would go over to her house for coffee, and find reasons to laugh. She was another light in my world through high school and still is today.
Both of these girls are people I cannot imagine my world without. I know if I didn’t have them my life would be very different. They have been my smile, joy and laughter when the world seems to have none to offer. These two are the big reason why I believe friendship makes the world a better place.
