Although this title might set this article up to sound like a yearning for summer now that we are finally in “fall,” it's not. I live in California, which means that, for the most part, we never truly experience “winter." No, this article is about prepping for summer internships.
That’s right, summer 2017 internships. Now that midterm season is pretty much over, the time to act is upon us. Between perfecting your resume or cover letter and practicing your interview skills, it might seem like a lot, but you will be thanking yourself over winter break that you started early and didn’t miss out on a great opportunity.
Additionally, we are in that sweet spot in the semester where we don’t quite have to start studying for finals yet, but we are also finishing up our last midterms. Don’t slack off! Look up internships, fellowships, even volunteer programs that you would consider being a part of. Heck, this might be old news to some of you, but for everybody else, this is a gentle reminder of what is to come. But, if you would like to take this time for a mental break, that is also totally fine. With everything that has been going on, it might be good to take a step back from everything and really gain some perspective on what is important to you.
Stay healthy, but keep an eye on your future. Good luck!
