10 Things You Should Know Before Dating An Independent Woman
"When you got independent dimes on your mind"

Rappers write bars on sexy independent women who have their own lives, but have you ever dated one?

These women are a force that you want to reckon with, but approach with caution. These are some of the things Webbie and Lil Boosie failed to mention:

1. Don't expect to play games.

She is a woman of many talents and mind games are more than likely a trade that she left in the past with the last jerk who couldn't keep up. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to tell you what exactly is on her mind. Don't cry when she gives it to you straight and crushes your mind games into smithereens, where they belong.

2. She has her own life to live.

She loves to please you, but she does not live for it. She has her own schedule and a list of priorities about a mile long. Don't take it personally if she can't meet for dinner, it is just what comes with being a boss lady.

3. She likes to play hardball. Make sure you can play back.

Sarcasm is a second language for her and sugarcoating is an art she has yet to master. If you are easily offended you should probably look to another era of women, because you are in for a rough ride full of a whole new breed of ladies, my friend.

4. Leave the jealous foolery behind.

Independent women are confident and sure of themselves. She knows what she brings to the table and won't compete with others for your attention. Don't expect her to wait around for you to grow up. Instead you will be replaced with someone else who values her time.

5. Be prepared for meaningful conversations.

The convos you have with skimpily clothed girls in the club over loud music won't cut it for very long with this chick. She has deep interests in religion, politics, and education. You better stay up-to-date or you'll be left in the dust along side your incoherent club chitchat, baby.

6. Respect her opinions.

She has a head full of knowledge and a mouth full of sass. Combine the two and you get an opinionated woman who knows how to voice her views on the world. Know that she will have a say on just about everything and sometimes you may just have to agree to disagree. The joys of dating a lady who is not a walking robot.

7. She will take your goals and aspirations to the next level.

She lives to motivate herself and everyone around her. You now have a partner in crime to push you to achieve your wildest dreams. Her initiative to accomplish goals and live her life with meaning will influence you to do the same. You will become the best possible version of yourself because of this strong woman. #powercouple

8. No stage-5 clinger here.

She has her own agenda and other things to do besides texting and making plans with you all day. She likes and respects a little assertiveness. Show her you are interested and be the first to make plans.

9. She knows the meaning of commitment.

She has her mind made up and if you are lucky enough to be the man she considers her partner, then you have nothing to worry about. Confident women know exactly what they want in a man and will love you with every ounce of their being.

10. Respect her.

She knows her worth and will not settle for less. Don't expect her to stick around if you are not giving her the respect she deserves. #byefelicia

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
