19 Things That Are Worse Than Being Single

There is more to life than having a significant other to hold you down, er I mean to have by your side.

It seems as if being single in your mid to late twenties is the worst thing in the world for some people. Your friends seem to make it a personal goal to find you someone special by a certain timeframe. I mean I know there are some perks to having a boyfriend or girlfriend. However, the single life is not the worst thing in the world either. There are worse things in the world.

1. Being dead.

I know it is THE obvious answer of all time but hey, some people have a rather shaky grasp of the obvious.

2. Never finishing high school.

Finding a job is hard enough without the "right" college degree, so I can only imagine it being even more difficult for someone who does not have a high school diploma.

3. Not having a college degree

To college or to be forever alone?

I am fortunate to have obtained both an associate's degree and a bachelor's degree.

4. Being unemployed.

Because being in your late 20s AND completely financially dependent on your parents is no fun.

5. Being homeless.

If I had to choose between having a significant other or having a roof over my head, I am obviously going to choose having a roof over my head.

6. Abnormal pap smears.

I am fortunate to not have had this happen to me, but I can only image how terrifying it must be to experience this.

7. Friendship breakups.

Friendship breakups can even be more painful than relationship breakups.

8. Being sick.

Being sicks blows, plain and simple.

9. Not having a work/school/life balance

Nothing will throw you off like having no balance in your professional AND personal life.

10. Buffering videos.

Can they just play my show, please?!

Easily one of the most irritating things in the world is trying to watch a video on Netflix, Hulu, etc. and it buffers, and buffers..

11. Not knowing someone's wi-fi password.

Unlimited data is only unlimited for so long, so being able to use wi-fi whenever I can helps me greatly.

12. Spending all day with someone you cannot stand.

Life is too short to spend all day with someone you really cannot stand being around.

13. War.

War is no fun for anybody.

14. Famine

Nobody should be forced to go hungry, ever.

15. Bad dates.

Hopefully you were not the one who had to pay for it.

16. Your food order getting messed up.

Not only did your order get messed up, now you have to wait even longer for the right order to be prepared.

17. Clocks moving an hour ahead.

Hey! Give my hour back! I NEED it!

Who wants to lose an hour of sleep?

18. Losing a loved one.

Knowing you will never see or hear someone you love again (at least in this life) is one of the worst feelings in the world.

19. Your car getting totaled.

This just happened to me a few months ago. While I like the car that I have now more than my old one, my old car could (and should) have lasted several more years.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
