Get Out & Go Live In Philadelphia

I love finding things to do in every city I go to, whether I live there or I'm just visiting. Unfortunately, sometimes I make plans to visit a place or go somewhere but don't follow through. For example, I've lived in Philly for almost two years and I just started to make a dent in my site seeing to-do list.

Philadelphia is so close to many surrounding suburbs. There is always something going on in or around the city! There is an unending list of events, festivals, and weekly food specials to enjoy throughout the entire year. With public transportation such as septa, trains, trolleys, and buses, it's surprisingly easy to navigate through the city. Here are some activities to look forward to this Spring in Philadelphia:

1. Philadelphia Science Festival

The Philadelphia Science Festival is the first event on my list. The Festival has all kinds of activities for kids and adults. The fun starts April 21st and goes until the 29th. The final event on the 29th will be the at Penn's landing. Tickets are on sale now: http://philasciencefestival.org

2. South Street Spring Fest

Spring is clearly all about the fests, the feasts, and the festivals! With restaurant booths and food trucks, you can grab a bite to eat, something to sip on, or watch a show all along South Street. The Fest starts at Front Street and stretches down to 8th Street. Get your friends and family ready to come to Philly on Saturday May 7th from 11am to 8pm. Best part, it's free to come see what's going on.

3. Chinese Lantern Festival

Chinatown holds a few different festivals for everyone to enjoy and participate in throughout the year. Last year, I first heard about this Chinese Lantern Festival and immediately decided to go. Unfortunately, something came up last minute and I was unable to go. This year, we can mark it on our calendars together. The festival is from May 9th to June 11th in Franklin Square. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 13th. Tickets range from about $12 to $17 for children to adult.

4. Philly Feast Food Truck Festival

Last year, this event was held at the end of July. With so many different food and drink options, you will find something to feast on at this Food Truck Festival summer 2017. Keep your eyes peeled for more advertisement details!

5. Made in America Concert

This specific event has gone by twice since I've known about it, but this is the year! Each year, people from all over come to Philly around September to see the musical lineup for the concert. Last year, artists like Rihanna, Coldplay, and Chance the Rapper performed. It's a two-day event full of live entertainment. Each year there are amazing headliners bringing in visitors from all over the east coast.

This is just a start! There's literally some event going on every day in this city. Try getting out on a nice day to see the city you live in or live near! As always, explore responsibly, stay observant and enjoy yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
