May 2018 graduates we have less than 7 months until we walk the stage and say goodbye to UT! While you're busy sleeping in bed all day only to wake up to eat and watch Netflix, I mean perfecting your resume, applying to jobs, and acing your final classes, make sure you take advantage of your final months as a college student before entering the "real world".
For the lucky year of 2018, here's 18 things to do before graduating:
1. Relax At Riverside
You've probably done this more times than you can count but what can you say. This tree lined area is the perfect place to chill, take a nap, and guess what, do homework.
2. Go to a Game
Being a D2 school, UT sports don't get the hype that its big brother USF does. Nonetheless nothing beats cheering on your home team. Go Wildcats, I mean Spartans!
3. Run the Track
That pavement, which was redone recently and probably part of the tuition spike, isn't just for watching cute guys jogging shirtless. Get out there and you'll burn some calories and maybe snag his number #winwin.
4. Explore Campus
UT's campus spans for 110 acres, which means yes there's more than that lovely stroll from your dorm, to class, to the dining hall, and back to your dorm.
5. Order Something New at Starbucks
Spontaneity is the spice of life, beside gotta give the "Pink Drink" a break sometimes.
6. Take a Fitness Class
There's over 50 classes offered a week at the gym, which means somethings got to fit your impossibly crammed but somehow manageable schedule.
7. Visit the 6th Floor of West Parking Garage
This is random but do it for the Insta. Those sunsets look amazing up there and the views of campus and downtown are pretty great.
8. Study in the Library
Ole Macdonald-Kelce seems like its miles away, but the hike is worth it. When all the seats are taken in Starbucks, the vacant library is a good place to study or watch Netflix.
9. Watch a Movie in Reeves
Believe it or not college offers a lot of free things and who can say no to a free movie? Head on over to Reeves on Friday nights to see a film when the heart says yes but the wallet says no to the club.
10. Brunch at Oxford Exchange
This fancy spot located only steps away from campus is the perfect place to dine and feel like you've got everything in your life together while eating "Ricotta Pancakes" and sipping on Mimosas.
11. Stroll the Riverwalk at Night
The Riverwalk is beautiful during the day but the multicolor lights at night just make it incredibly picturesque. Safety first always, be sure to take a buddy.
12. Go to an Event in Curtis Hixon Park
If you've ever been by Riverside on a Saturday night, you've probably heard music. That's coming from the park which always seems to have something cool going on.
13. Watch a Play
UT has an impressive theatre department that performs shows that are sometimes free to students. Recently "A Very Potter Musical" was performed at Falk Theatre, and I mean c'mon who doesn't like Harry Potter.
14. Venture Downtown
Going to school in a city means there's always something to do. Dough Nation recently opened and you can eat all the edible cookie dough you want guilt free because you’re doing it for a cause- all proceeds go to feed the hungry in Tampa Bay!
15. Get Cultured at the Straz Performing Arts Center
The Straz Center puts on tons of plays and shows throughout the year and many are offered at a discounted rate to students. Fun fact: Mr. Swoon-Worthy Anderson Cooper visited a few weeks ago!
16. Tell Ghost Stories in Plant Hall
Plant Hall is said to be haunted and after having a math class in there and receiving my test back I 100% agree. Grab some friends and bring back Halloween, which we celebrated for way too long this year.
17. Walk into Sykes
Another random one but this building feels very “real world-ish”. Perhaps some of the professionalism from the students will rub off and give you a leg up in your next interview. So yeah, walk in, be inspired, walk out, and bam new perspective.
18. Take Advantage of What’s Offered
UT is an expensive school but it offers many helpful things for its students to take advantage of such as headshots for LinkedIn, resume critiques, and elevator pitch workshops.
