With the rise of social media and celebrities boasting everywhere, young women grow up seeing advertisements that focus solely on outer beauty. It is easy to get lost in the idea that beauty is what counts, but there are some many things that are more important. Women everywhere could benefit from emphasizing actual character traits. Here are some things that are more meaningful:

Ambitious

“Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.” -Salvador Dali

Brave

“A lion sleeps in the heart of every brave man.” -A Turkish Proverb

Compassionate

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.” -Dalai Lama

Fearless

Generous

“Generosity is a practical expression of love.” -Gary Unrig

Hard-Working

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” -Tim Notke

Intelligent

Beauty is temporary and fleeting, but character can remain forever. After all, the most outwardly beautiful person in the world is only as pretty as what lies within. Who knows how much more wonderful the world could become if we only saw what lies beneath the surface. At the very least, we could all become more confident in knowing that there is more to life than meets the eye.
